President Obama has developed a stealthy way to diminish the US budget deficit: appoint Democrats to high office.
So far, the US has scored an extra $30,000 from Geithner and $100,000 from Daschle.
I’m thinking there must be around 100 million adult Democrats. Suppose we appoint 10% of them to govt. posts. At an average of $60,000 in recovered tax payments per individual the deficit could easily be erased.
If they appoint Charles Rangel to a cabinet post, he might cough up a few million in underpaid taxes. Appoint the top dozen or so guys at Goldman Sachs (all Democrats), and you’ve got half a billion or so. And George Soros might be good for a few hundred million by himself.
