From the latest Cervelo newsletter…it states that the frameset alone will be $3k-3.5k…wow…that’s getting to be pretty expensive for a stock frameset…no doubt it will be killer, but once you hit the $3k mark for a frameset, that gets into a WHOLE different ball game…
Custom titanium and even carbon fiber cutoms from Guru get to be compared then…
I just migh order one myself, but a DA or even Ult bike pushes it very close to $4.5-5k before any customization…
Any else thinking about it?
When the P3C was announced as a $4400 bike, I posted a thread wondering how Cervelo could go so far below the market with the price offering. My guess is that you’ll be getting a lot of bike for the buck with the Soloist Carbon, just as you would with any other bike of theirs.
“$3k-3.5k…wow…that’s getting to be pretty expensive”
I thought the same thing when reading that. True to form, I’ll wait and see before just rushing out and coughing up the cash.
you’re right…it very well might be all that we’d hope, but the new Cervelos seem to be getting quickly out of price range of the average consumer who could formerly afford just about any bike in their line…
Maybe, but at the same time things have also gotten better for that average consumer . The range may have broadened and there are now some expensive bikes in the line, but the Dual10 is an immeasurably better bike than the original One was only three years ago at the same price. Same with the Soloist Centaur, with the same frame as Basso and Julich ride, for a $2k complete bike.
…any chance you’ll be able to have a version available for under $4k total bike? …something worthwhile, not a 105 bike:)
Will the regular Soloist still be available…will that be discounted?
Is there a future for aluminium bikes still in the portfolio?
The regular Soloist will definitely stay, that is an awesome bike. Look, in the ProTour the Aluminum Soloist competes with Pinarello Dogmas and Time VXRSs, and does quite well. It would be silly to discontinue such a great frame, especially when it gives people the opportunity to ride such a frame at a fraction of the costs of those other frames.
I hope they put ‘real’ brake calipers on it.
I agree…now, if only mine found its way to my LBS (I was told it shipped 8 days ago) I’d stop thinking about the Carbon Soloist until they are readily available…

I am sure a few things changed already (I can’t tell, I am not that long into cycling)and I am really in love with my 9spd Dual, but you habe to work on the paint. I was not able to find any used Cervelo on the internet without paint damages .
These bikes are way to great to make us cry because the paint is getting ripped off.
I just touched the pedal of an other bike standing next to the Dual and it got damaged!
I was on the Cervelo site today and found this:

It looks like this thread made it to Cervelo’s FAQ section.
cool, I’m glad I could help out…now if my bike would only show up!
