It’s Interbike time again, time for the latest and greatest to be rolled out, shined up and orders booked.

But what stuff shown this year will REALLY ever exist when it coes time to deliver? The Golden VApor Awards look back at Interbike '03 at the most ambitious product introductions that never were.

What was shown at Interbike '03 that everyone wanted, everyone tried to order and no one ever actually got? Here’s the rules:

  1. A manufacturer had to show it at Interbike '03 and take orders on it for the '04 season.

  2. The product has to have never been shipped in any “appreciable numbers” or not at all.

That’s it! Nominations please…

How about the Reynolds disc wheel? I saw it at Interbike last year and the last time I called the folks at Reynolds they told me they are still working out some “kinks.”

I nominate the FSA Visiontech one pice aerobar with flat base bars. Everyone wanted it, a lot of people ordered it. I never saw one.

Actually the problem is, I don’t remember much from last years show.
Maybe the super lightweight Syntace Clip-ons?

How about items at this years show? Some have just got to stand out as vaporware.

For your information, that was an utterly failed project. I could not ride like that effectively. I actually even raced like that once at the Willow Duathlon. Couldn’t get out of my own way.

Kuota Kaliber, I have only seen 3 and one was a sponsored rider in the ETU champs! My lbs has 18 ordereed only 2 which includes mine delivered in 9 months!

Don’t know about last year, but for this year, here’s a list of things you might see at interbike that i bet you won’t see in 2005:

Kestrel Air Foil Pro. I know there are a few out there in a couple of sizes, but after running ads etc for a year, availability seemed pretty scarce.

Is HED not shipping anymore? I have seen one or two HED TT bikes around town

I second the Aero TT helmets, as soon as I can get my hands on the Garneau Rocket TT, its mine

I like the Giro, but we wont see that until at least 05 I figure

Wow, that’s pretty impressive. Maybe, it’s the importers that are the villians in this piece! Tom, are you out of the shop at all on week commenccing Sunday, 17th? I need to sort out the 3 days to come for my fit on said bike. All details requiring response are in the p.m. to you.
