Sold: Zipp 2001: 700c, Small Frame / Large Beam

I’m going to regret selling this. For a bunch of reasons. Sigh.

However…I’ve been unemployed for a few months now and I need to free up funds. This is my second Zipp 2001, with my primary tri bike being another zipp 2001 (see pic below). I just had some expensive work done on it, and I haven’t even been able to build it up. It truly pains me to be putting this listing up.

FOR SALE:

Zipp 2001 Small Frame / Large Beam, 700c.

Notes on fit: I’m 5’10, and usually ride a 54 ST/53 TT and this size frame fits me like a glove…right in the middle of the adjustments. Thus if you’re anywhere close to this you can most likely fit on it.

Notes on shape: This is a bike from 1997, so the clear coat is not perfect. If I were you, I’d probably get a custom paint job done on it (like I did on my other bike, again see picture)

REASONS TO BUY:

  1. This is the most aero frame ever. Period. Cervelo P3C/P4/Lotus included. Read through all the posts of the big manufacturers, the people who have had it in the tunnel (at least anecdotally) explain that it bests even the newest and fastest frames.

  2. This frame is in awesome shape structurally. Brand new Chris King threadless headset. All internal tubes, BB shell, and everything else is in perfect shape. If you buy one off ebay, these WON’T be in good shape and will cost you another $800 bucks and 3 months or so to get fixed (trust me, I’ve had it all done on my original frame)

  3. It’s more comfortable than any other bike. The beam sits on elastomers, cushioning your ride a bit. If you don’t want this, you can torque down the bolt and have a 100% rigid ride. I don’t know why you would want that though.

  4. It’s really cool. I guarantee you won’t see any others in transition, even at the big races.

  5. I’ll give you the contact info for the guy who originally made these bikes (15 years ago when he worked at zipp) so you can get spares, repairs, or whatever else you may need in 2 years.

  6. It comes with stuff. 1 inch Oval Jetstream fork and the Chris King Headset.

Price: These go for $1,100 on ebay when they’re in bad shape and that’s for the 650c version. I’m asking $1750 NOW $1575 for it. Price is non-negotiable for now… that might change if my employment situation doesn’t!

Here is a picture, but you probably know what they look like already.

Just to show you what CAN be done… I included a picture of my other bike.

I answer all questions quickly.

due to a few PM’s and what is apparently a bad picture…

the frame is nude carbon weave, not painted black. I’ll post a better one over the weekend if nobody has taken it by then.

I wish you the best, and understand the loss you will feel. For people who have never ridden these great machines they don’t understand what an awesome ride it is. You can’t find many Zipp’s that are nude carbon, a bonus if you do. If you are really serious about Tri’s and TT’s this is the bike for you, a rocket like this doesn’t come along to often.

Thanks for the kind words…these frames are truly mindblowing from an aero, comfort, and overall quality standpoint.

Anyhoo, bump for price reduction + more pictures. Now

update- I replaced the Oval fork with a Kinesis fork which is a lot wider and has a better depth profile so it matches better with an H3 (fork/wheel combo which lance used). I also added a Dura ace AX rear brake.

Beautiful bike, I wish I could justify another Zipp. Despite being 10+ years old these bike still attract a lot of attention and praise.

Word…my tri-built zipp 2001 (in pic above) gets my slow ass down the course pretty fast, is easy to find in transition, and gets a lot of comments!

Dang, Man, If this was a Large/Large…youd have a deal.:frowning:
.

thanks anyways
.

Dura Ace AX Aero Brake ($100+, hard to find)
Kinesis Aero Fork (also getting rarer…very wide so good for a tri-spoke wheel)

Hello, my name is Cristian and I’m from Argentina I saw your ad posted on the Internet you have to sale a Zipp 2001 frame still like to know if you have it 15 years ago that I find one (I’m currently 28 years) and when the time Zipp saw for the first time in my life I realized that I wanted to be was Designer Bicycles. From what I read in your posting I saw that I worked on Zipp you tell us a little about the topic? And would have information and assembly drawings of the Beam Zipp etc. as regular.
I await your response and if you do not have the frame for sale if maybe I can get one here because there are very few and are in poor condition. Greetings!

hi, sorry it’s sold. I don’t have any designs/specs/assembly drawings either.

It’s a cool bike, one that should be updated/copied and so I encourage your wish to design bicycles!

good luck.

Hi, I am looking for a zipp frame/bike by any chance do you still have one you woul like to sell?

Hi, I am looking for a zipp frame/bike by any chance do you still have one you woul like to sell?

I have a Zipp 2001 and a Zipp 3001. Please email me for more info, I could not figure out how to PM. I am available at my handle (heavyd) at g mail. com.

Is the Zipp small frame still available? I am looking for a good frame/bike to build up for 2 IM races and 1 double century race for 2012.
I ride a Softride Rocketwing and I am on my last beam. I want to stay on a beam bike and the Zipp seems to more durable than the Rocketwing.

I am 5’8" and weigh 175. Will this work.

My email address is massoomi@cox.net ; please let me know.
Thank you
fredm.

Unfortunately, I have a buyer lined up for the 2001, which may have fit you. If that falls through, I will email you. The 3001 would be way too big for you, as it is large beam and large frame.
