Flat black from the Specialized era. I believe the older trispokes were this color before they switched to the glossy clear coat over the carbon weave that Hed now uses.

Is there a weight / stiffnessdifference between the older trispokes and the newer ones? Seems like a different material altogether…

There is a weight difference. I also own a Hed tubular trispoke which is noticeable lighter, more so than the difference between a clincher and tubular rim would normally be. Doing a quick Google search it seems like the Specialized wheel weight about 1100 grams vs roughly 900 grams for a Hed trispoke. I haven’t noticed a stiffness difference. The shape of the rim and the spokes are exactly the same.
