Hey, to you guys/girls doing this race on Sunday, water temps here in San Clemente have dropped drastically in the past two days. It was probably 62 degrees in the water this morning here!

I’ll be there, was hoping to be able to do it without a wetsuit…looks like I will have to go surfing on saturday to do some water temp recon! Thanks for the warning.

Hmmm…trying to get people to wear thier full wetsuits eh??? While you swim in your tri shorts? LOL! I was planning on jumping into the water yesterday to check it out at Flecher Cove…but my sons shattered left upper arm at the YMCA skate park sorta too precedence. Two plates and a bunch of pins later, he is still in the hospital and my wife hanging with him.
Arrggg. Fred! That’s why I gave up skateboarding at age 18! Hope he heals quickly.
Believe me, I won’t be in only tri-shorts in that water temp. Probably going with the short sleeve fullsuit. I hate to wear a wetsuit for such a short swim, but I know if I don’t, the cold will slow me down. After 26 years surfing/bodyboarding, I should be able to peel the suit down in about 15 seconds.
Suck…been there done that, 6 pins and a T-Plate in my wrist from a bike accident. Sucked when I woke up after surgery, arm in a case, iv in my other arm, no contacts in…and I had to piss something fearce! Hard to hold the robe, and bed pan, and myself with one hand with a tube in it! So I pulled my IV out (first of many times that day).
Is the YMCA skate park the one down in OB? That place is always packed, espeically during the summer. But, better to have active kids that break bones then lazy kids that have health problems!

He is pretty bummed. Only two weeks until he was to start Freshman Football workouts at Torrey Pines. Not gonna happen. Tough kid…I picked him up, it was a compound fracture…blood at the back of the elbow and all…he just winced a few times as we went over bumps. I new he was in a lot of pain though, pale as a ghost. 4 1/2 hours of surgery. It was at the Magdelena Ecke YMCA in Carlsbad.
Looking forward to Solana Beach…I can ride my bike to the race…only two blocks from my house.

The jellyfish disappeared with the warm water. Water went from weirdly warm to its usual chill in 24 hours.
It’s back to being too cold for me. Kids went boogie boarding today and I sat on the beach and read a magazine (Windansea Beach).
click on the link for del mar (just south of solana). it says today’s water temp is 70, so who knows? i am going for a swim in del mar right now. i will post when i return.
