So, you want to climb the Matterhorn, do ya?

No freaking way… Not me.

I don’t think so…

I showed it to my daughter. She asked if they were Russian. I said, “No, it looks like they were taking their time”. bah dah ding.

That’s insane. I would think the ice/snow could slip and send them over the edge.

They have ropes. Its all good.

I would be on my belly crawling and crying like a schoolgirl. You could not pay me anything to do that. No way no how.

Wow that is solid. Buddy falls one way you jump off the other side. I wouldn’t like that much exposure. About the most I was comfortable with was this at around 13,900’. The second pic is looking down from the first location.

That is really weird…it looks totally vertical in the first pic, not so much in the second.

Spot

The top part is in fact steeper but it is not vertical. It’s steep enough if you slipped you wouldn’t stop for about 2000 feet though.

And the lines are long too

.

in terms of matterhorn climbs this video has a lot of very nice shots too

definitely you can understand why mountaineering is as high risk as it is, makes me think that everybody should be wearing a BASE parachute just in case you end up falling  the thing is that in some parts of the video it seems that people are just holding the rope connecting each other without anchoring it anywhere, if one falls at that point then yikes…

That is insane.

I think getting down would be even more terrifying!

That wasn’t so bad. Until the sun came up.

I think getting down would be even more terrifying!

that is something I’ve always thought would be so hard, you don’t have the adrenaline going as much since you summited already, you are a lot more tired, you can’t really see where you are putting your hands/feet as much etc. etc. it does seem a lot of fatalities happen on the way down too, not surprising
