I went out for a lovely run this morning. It was cold, clear and sunny, which is hellishly different from where I live. I’m getting used to the temperature and it was just nice to be out stretching my legs.
The family think I’m nuts for running on Christmas day, but then they don’t really get the whole exercise thing. Personally, it got me out of a dreary hour with friends of the family, and helps me de-stress from the intense noisy family that are my in-laws. They’re lovely people, but my god they’re loud. Running is my relief from that.
I just wondered if anyone else goes training on Christmas day, and do you do it because you know you should, because you can then over-eat in the afternoon, or because you just enjoy it so much.
Ran for an hour. Couldn’t resist … had that “tiger in a cage feeling”. After everyone else is in bed, I’ll ride for 1:30 to 2:00 while I finish watching the Two Towers.
I was all set for a 50 mile bike ride…but its been raining all day and a high of about 53. So, it’ll wait til tomorrow or Monday since its supposed to be the same tomorrow.
Nice 8 miler with a good freind, whom I spent the eve with on her open house. Her and her husband are awesome athletes(guy runs a 32 10k at 49)My wife sews, I run. Its a great life
attempted a 2 hour bike but but rained out. Saw the rain coming ahead, turned tail and attempted to run but little did I know it had snuck up behind me too! Ended up with an hour ride.
Oh my yes. Nothing long though - 10K run and a separate hour on the indoor trainer. I’d love to swim, but nothing is open (and it’s only 15 F right now). I guess I could call the local Polar Bear Club, although I think they would frown at my wetsuit
Just got back from a 4.5 hour ride along the Monterey coast. Crashed an hour into the ride but other than that, I had a great time. Saw a number of people out riding and running.
To answer your question, I think I trained today for all the reasons you mention.
I was able to sneak out for a quick 25 miles bike ride this afternoon. Cold, but sure was a beautiful day. I would’ve headed out for a run when I got home but due to a house full of relatives and ‘honey-do’ chores, I have to put it off until tomorrow.
I did a quick 15 mile run this morning before my three year old son came over. Although the natives probably thought it was chilly (45 degrees at 7:00AM), it gorgeous weather for running in shorts and a t-shirt. I was surprised by the number of runners and walkers on the roads.
Did an easy 45mi spin. As it is summer down here I don’t have the weather excuse for not going out. I just took it easy to be in time for lunch (which we ate quite late anyway).
Tomorrow is back to the normal schedule with a 70mi ride planned.
Ran 6, temp was -8 but didn’t feel that cold, the wind was fairly calm. I didn’t see all the “new years resoulition exercisers” out today, or the people that walk or run 1 day a week if the temp is about 60.
I rode from my place in Mesa to just beyond Tortilla Flat and back for about 57 miles total. It was a beautiful day. I saw only one other cyclist out there and lots of folks on Harleys and sportbikes.
We need to get together to workout some time. I’m off work until Jan 3, unless you count the honey do list. Am going to start swimming masters Monday in Mesa @ kino pool unless I’m still not feeling great.
I’m out here for good on January 3rd. I’ll have all the time in the world to train, so we should hook up. I’m back in LA this coming week and that’s it… Can you share some info on the Mesa Masters? The Kino pool is a 50M, right?
I was the only one in my family to exercise today. Went out for a 10 miler this morning. It was 18 degrees and breezy, took me about a mile to warm-up. I ate plenty at dinner tonight.
