You forget how easy it is to fail a drug test…especially with pseudoephedrine.
Manufacturers have different versions for different countries and some ingredients banned here are included in other markets.

I’d almost be willing to pay (.25cents) for someone to put together a list of common pre workout mixes or recovery supplements, specifically in the US that include banned substances. I know, I’m being lazy but items longer than 5 letters fly right over my head.
Yeah that article says zyrtec d, anything with a d has pseudoephedrine.
I rotate my allergy meds but don’t take any with pseudoephedrine in it directly so I can take it on the side and control my intake. Don’t love what it does to my heart rate sometimes.
Not true actually, the rules have changed since 95. If you do some googling you can easily find out which specific brands and products contain banned and controlled substances. I took some interest in all these rules a while back and learned a lot. There are also clear guidelines from WADA on how much of a pseudo ephedrine product is relatively safe to consume within legal limits on the day of competition. I think it is something on the order of 6 regular strength pills in 24 hours to go over (not that an athlete should push it-everyone is different in drug metabolism). Bottom line is, this was probably no accident. And if he was buying unknown medications in foreign pharmacies without due diligence that is just pretty dumb overall.
