Anyway, I was thinking how does semicamp fit into your training plan? And whats everyone training for?
The dates worked out well for me as this was suppose to be a big week before a rest week. I’ve been stuck in a volume plateau for around 13hrs and wanted to get in atleast 17 this week and if things go well it looks like I’m going to hit 20, for the first time so far this year. Its also got me back in the pool again which is good.
I’m training right now for Columbia in May and my first peak of the year will be Blackwater and two bike races in June.
I have a 5K/30k/5K duathlon on the 28th. This was going to be a big week for me already so it fit nicely, although I would like to try another semicamp starting the 3rd of April. I can go much harder then since my next race would be more than a month away (Milkman triathlon in Dexter, NM).
I think my next big training block will be Starting the 10th of April. There is a two bike race that weekend, so I can get in 112 miles of bike racing which would kick of the week nice. Then I’ll probably take the Tuesday off from work for a long ride. By then all of the local rides will be in full swing and it will be safe enough to ride into and from work. It will probably be a bike focus week where this week has been more run focus for me.
Its all building up to the 2nd week in May, which will be another big training block. Then sharpening for Eagleman.
Even though I came last on the point list, it was still an epic week for me. Did 120km on the bike, did two swims and two runs. Last week I managed 71km with no swims and no bike. First week ever over 100km on the bike.
Not training for anything at the moment. Just building up some base and learning how to run. Had intended doing a .3/8/3 next weekend but girlfriend has other plans. Will gradually build up a base and aim for an Olympic in Nov/Dec/Jan.
Not well at all. I’m in week 1 of Build 2, and have 10 hours scheduled, mostly one hour sessions or less, except on the weekend. I’m playing along because it is good motivation, but it’s hard not to try to pile on the volume. Realistically, I wouldn’t get above 15 hours this time of year anyway.
It would be fun to do it again in about four weeks, when I go back to base.
I’m training for IM Lake Placid. My first tri this season will be Ashland Int’l in June. You gotta love New England, where the first tri of the season is in may, and features a pool swim.
I didn’t really start actively participating in this until Wednesday, but I find that the more I buy into it, the more jazzed I get about my training sessions.
I’m training for the Triple-T in May and Ironman Wisconsin. This was good timing for me as I have to chaperone our school’s senior trip to Florida next week so probably just running and some rest next week. Not to mention we had a snow day this week so that helped me get in some training.
I think that epic camp has inspired many of us to get out the door a bit more and add in some extra volume that we may not have done. it’s been good for me since I’ve moved twice this year, spent all of december working on the house and packing and took 2 weeks completely off due to travel then illness. I was still aheadd of the curve until that two weeks and semicamp has gotten me back onto the curve.
Pretty much the same for me, Eagleman peak. As such, this is just the big week of Base 2. Sort of like training plan +20%. Don’t think the coach is real excited but hey, it’s my nickel.
My first big race is not until early May when I head to Florida for the Gulfcoast Half IM. So this Semi Camp really helps me most with my weakest discipline, my run. My total number of workouts has not changed, but I make more of an effort to run, as it is “quicker” to score points that way. IE a not too fast 7 mile run will take about an hour and give me 28 points, while on the bike it would take me longer or a much harder effort to get to those points. I really need to run, and thanks to Dan and the Camp I am running more. But I like cycling quite a bit more as a former pro mountain biker, thus usually on a regular training week I tend to gravitate towards the bike.
Two more days to go, my goal is to end up with over 500 points. But social obligations (a wedding of a friend tomorrow) are looming to interfere.
Cheers,
Herbert

in baseII right now…with 1/2 of the camp falling in a recovery week, and the beginning falling during midterms…the lack of training was definitly semiepic…
some of the guys on the tri team here @ school tried to have a competition…would have been fun to get involved, but decided that since i am paying a coach to coach me, i may as well listen to him…
attempting to peak for an IMC qualifier July 4th, and then hopefully IMC end of august.
