So What is the Recovery Time of a One O One?

In trying to figure out how 101 races fit into a season, what would you think is the recovery protocol after one?

How long before normal training resumes?
How long before an A or B Oly?
How long before a Half or IM?

I am thinking that after “racing” a 101, you’d still need a 2-3 weeks before you are back up to snuff. I am thinking that no matter how fresh you went into it, you still come out about at the level of a last-hard-week-before-taper? Or would you think it is more like the recovery from a mid-season 1/2 IM?

Recovery time is much less than an Ironman and closer to a 1/2IM.
If you look at the distances, the bike ends before it really starts to hurt, 120k, and the same for the run, 30k.

I’ll be covering it all in my upcoming training book titled “Going Sort of Long.”

that was sort of funny.

actually is wasn’t sort of funny, it WAS funny.

and it still is.

Agreed 100%. I was back up and running before the week was out last year. And the one I did was very hilly.

Best laugh I’ve had all day! Or is that book called “Going *Short *of Long?”

I’m surprised HFP got that domain name. I tried onehundred.com–already taken. onehundredone.com–already taken.

Maybe I should start buying up domain names that might be good tri distances.

while one would think recovery time would be less, might this not also produce the “marathon” syndrome? Meaning, if the race is just below the suffering of a longer endurance event, might not people be able to race it harder, thus producing even longer muscular discomfort post race? (although I’m sure that general “fatigue” feeling would be less).

I know that from my past history, running a marathon hurts more than an IM (being MOP, I’m less likely to push the same pain levels). I hurt for over a week following my last marathon (compared to a few days for IM), but definitely had that general fatigue feeling for a couple of weeks after IM.

The distance should be interesting…
