So Tom D., what's the word on the new visiontech integrated bar?

Hey Tom! On a thread a few months ago you said that you had the new bar and it looked very good and you were going to test it. But I never saw the results of that test? How was it? Was it better than the previous offerings? How does it compare to the HED integrated bar?

-Colin

Not trumping Tom but make sure to look at my new bar. Pics available very soon. Full Ti 1 piece bar.

PM me and I’ll send you a sneak peak

Sounds pretty good, but that aero-concepts link doesn’t work. Is the site down? Are the bars pretty aero? I recall you talking about them before, where are the data going to be released?

-C

No, no, not aero concepts. Steve is trying to keep everybody on their toes, it’s aero conepts. You zig, he zags, keeping the industry guessing. Very clever man. That, or you just need to fix one letter in his link!

I’d say bag the integrated version…

I just got the FSA/Vision base bar, carbon clip-ons, brake levers. Combined with a Syntace F99 Stem, they are light and VERY adjustable. Nice finish work too.

If you want “S-Bend,” simply buy a HED Clip-on and use the other items mentioned above.

This is a more affordable combination and still looks to be quite aero.

Cheers,

Site will be live “by next week” is what my web developer tells me. One day in my free time I’ll learn how to do my own site.

I have a 1 piece bar, Genesis ready for release in March, Clip on coming for the summer, post, stem, and a new Tri Frame for 2006.

I still believe the 1 piece bar is the way to go. I have built in enough adjustability so that 95% of the people can use it. It is however designed for the person who can handle an agressive set up on their bike.

Magazine reviews will be coming in the spring as well so hopefully the reviews will be good. I’ll contact Tom as well for his opinions as well.

Thanks for asking. I have tested ity and continue to use it on the trainer.

First off, in my opinion, the erconomics, fit and bent of this bar are absolutely fantastic. I really like it.

Secondly, it is very nice looking. There is very little extraneous hardware and it is smooth and clean. The Aero base bar section has a beautiful carbon weave as do the extensions. The stem nets out to about a 90mm on the version I got, and I am looking forward to a 100 lenght version which I think I will race on this year.

The internal cable routing was easy to install and works and looks great- it really cleans up the front of the bike when you size your cables to the appropriate length.

In general, this is another home run for FSA/Visiontech. The bars will retail for about $449.99 at a healthy margin for your retailer. ETA is, well, I don’t know… major wholesale distributor Quality Bicycle Parts in Minnesote just told me “maybe 3-4 weeks” to them, so a month or two to your dealer.

Three sizes are 250mm extension, 270mm extension and 290mm extension. The 250mm and 270mm have a 90 mm stem integrated to the base bars, the 290mm has a 100mm stem integrated to the base bar. Base bar width is 41cm center to center.

Is it just me, or does everyone make the upturned part of aerobars way too long?

Can the upturned part be cut? Will you have a problem installing bar end shifters if you cut it?

I think it was Bunnyman who said to go ahead and drill out the extensions, if necessary.

(Just kidding Bunnyman. I know you said hell no.)

The extension? That usually is too long. We cut down probably 40% of them to fit customers correctly.
