So nobody makes a wetsuit in my size ?!

Other than Q.R., are there any high-end womens one-piece tri racing wetsuits out there that would actually fit me without going outside the manufacturer’s recommended sizes?

I am 110-115 lbs. and 5’7"

And, if it helps, I have already looked at the sizing charts of aquaman, orca, 2XU, & blue seventy. None of them seem to have wetsuits that, based on their own sizing charts would properly fit me.

thanks!

Have you checked Blue Seventy? I’m a hard-to-fit size (5’0", 90-95lbs) too, and their XS fit me. I was very impressed with their range of sizes. I would call and talk to one of their reps…

If you are not married to the idea of a one piece, take a look at the DeSoto T1. Depending on your other measurements, you can mix and match the top and bottom to get a good fit. As an added plus, it has a 15 day money back guaranty with no questions asked. Mine arrived this week and I am liking it so far.

A DeSoto T1 will fit you.

Nineteen might as well…

You could also check with Promotion, not as well know since they do direct from the factory orders only. I’m really happy with my suit and am a really odd size due to having an extremely short torso. I called promotion and they fit me over the phone and it fit great when I recieved it. Small company don’t be surprised if the owner takes your call himself. Web site is www.wetsuit.com

Thanks, but according to their Womens size chart, I am outside the limits of all the sizes. So if you talk to the reps, are they going to make a custom suit for you?

I’m married to someone of the same dimensions. She swims in a Blue Seventy Women’s Medium. Oh and she has a few swim records to her credit, so it seems to work.

The sizing charts tend to be generalizations, if you fall between sizes call the company and get their opinion. I fell between two sizes with promotion and they gave me a recommendation that worked great. Looking at their size chart you would be a 6 or 6T with them. I would say the length of the wetsuit would be more important than your weight, you fall on the low side on the charts.

That is interesting, some wetsuit company websites say the opposite: that the weight range of a wetsuit is a lot more important than the height (if the height is within a few inches).

Yeah, and I know anyone I call will “recommend me” into one of their existing wetsuit sizes. But I was wondering if any company (other than QR) actually makes a size I would already fit into, without a “sales recommendation.”

I see your point on them “recommending” you into a size. Promotion site states they consider Height and Bust as most important for female wetsuit fit and I remember having to measure my chest size when I called them. I just know they got me into the right size once I called, and it was NOT the size I would have picked by looking at the chart. I do try to plug them when I can since they don’t get a lot of play on the forums and make a good product.

T-1 wetsuit, size 3 bottom probably, and a size 2 top. You will not regret it, and if you don’t like it, then get your money back after a trial…Can’t lose…

I’m 5’6’’ 110 and I comfortably wear a QR small…

Hey I thought I had the same problem too. If you look at the charts it appears that nothing will fit you. I actually went to a tri shop and bought a qr xs and according to the charts I’m too tall for it. So if you can actually find someone who knows how to fit you it shouldn’t be a problem. I tried on a dozen wetsuits. I never would have picked that wetsuit for myself. It’s the best one I’ve ever had. HTH good luck

I am 5’5, 110 lbs. and I just got a De Soto T1: bibjohn: size 2, top: size 1. It works well for my longer legs and short-torso combination. Plus, it’s extremely comfortable and fast! Fits so much better than my previous wetsuit. Email/call the company and they’ll help you choose a size too.

My hesitation with the T1 is the speed of the removal. How does it compare that way to a one piece long sleeve? I would love to hear some feedback from others racing in it vs. the demo on DeSotos website.

Also, do you know if the T1 top is all made of the same thickness of neoprene, or is it a combo of different thicknesses?

Thanks for the info!

If I was fitting you in a Nineteen wetsuit, I would want you to try on our women’s extra-small and small size. It’s a tough call from the information that you have given but you could wear either oone depending on how each size fit and your own comfort in the suit.

Hope this helps.

I’ve never had an issue getting out of my T1. I was a little worried when I first bought it (sight unseen) because I have shoulders that dislocate very easily - but it pops off very quickly and without strain. For the record, I prefer my zipperless T1 top for removal over the zipperred vest.

I think the top is entirely 2mm rubber.

I got the T1 First Wave this week. The top comes off as easily as a shirt. Not kidding. That was the first time I tried it on too. I think the concept of the two piece just freaks people out until they give it a try. The trick with putting it on is to put on socks or plastic shopping bags on your feet first just like the video suggests. (I liked the plastic bags.) The thing that sold me was that I can send it back if I don’t like it.

The top is 2mm.

As far as removal of the T1, I have seen my transition time cut in half compared to my one-piece. It is so fast! I’ve got the top off as soon as I reach the beach sand and the bib john comes off extremely easily- just like the video shows. (I believe there have been numerous posts on this as well- so you could search through the archives.)

It looks to be the same thickness- “Flexible 2 mm body and arms with a new lower neckline” but don’t take my word for it- email the company with additional questions. contact@desotosport.com The bibjohn has different thickness throughout (thicker in the legs to help float them- which works great!) and is also thicker than the top.

I hope that’s helpful.

Like I’ve said before, all wetsuits have the same transition time. You can get any suit top off and down to your hips by the time you get to your bike, so that is not relevant to your suit choice.

As for thickness, in the T-1 I believe the top is 2mm, but you must remember that it overlaps the bibjohn, which gives you your 5mm for flotation. So you get the flexability of a nice thin toop to swim in, but the added advantage of the two rubbers together for more flotation, and that means more speed in both respects…
