So if you had to pick ONE

which would it be? Run, bike, swim?

Just curious because everyone around here seems totally cycling obsessed!

Run. I’ll always be a runner at heart! Swim is second, biking’s last. Of course that list of what I like is probably because I’m best at running, ok at swimming, and a miserable cyclist…

Cycling is all about the gear. Very seldom does anyone talk about the advantages/disadvantages of a pair of running shoes versus another. Maybe on letsrun.com that becomes a topic of heated discussion, but I don’t think many people here care.

Cycling equipment can also be tailored to each individual’s liking. That leaves endless possibilities for discussion. Other than custom footbeds, you really can’t do too much to shoes.

With that said, I am a runner through and through.

There’s more to talk about with cycling …

run… not my best event but it keeps me somewhat slimmer and i like the endorphin rush I get from it

  1. Bike

  2. Swim

  3. Run

Well… To say I couldn’t run would seem to preclude cycling, as I’d have to have no legs to not run. So then it would have to be swim.

But to answer your question directly – cycling. But my first love was running.

Yeah, I admittedly fall into the cycling obsessed crowd. I enjoy running, but I have such bad problems with my left knee that the pain/swelling after the run takes a bit of the enjoyment out of it for me now. Therefore the swimming has jumped up to second for me as I have really enjoyed my swim training over the past couple of months.

Swim. Easy on the joints, and gets me home sooner to spend time with the kids.

Run. I love the simplicity. Plus, you get the most bang for your buck, fitness wise (at least for me).

Cycling. Followed by swimming. Once I retire from tri, I’ll never run again in my life, but as long as my body is not too feeble to turn a crank, I’ll always ride.

Surely bike for me.

It’s all about the bike. Doesn’t even have to be a very good bike. (but that’s nice, too)

Speed, freedom, exhileration, covering ground - you definitely don’t get ANY of that from swimming.

Running is a distant second.

Bike. But maybe that’s colored by not having run or swum in 4 months.

The Zen of an early morning run takes me back to my surfing days.

Speed scares me. Luckily, that’s never an issue for me on the run:)

saturday morning swim training = best start ti the weekend.,

Definitely running - I love to run! Biking is a close second, though. Swimming is just something that you get through (although I would probably like it better if I was a better swimmer!).

Like KK, Acorn and my buddy says, “NEVER NOT RIDE!” Though I’m liking swimming a lot right now.

cycling. I’ve given up tris – I hate to run, I’m pokey, my knees creak and pop and hurt – but I’ll never give up riding. And I’m still swimming. Since I’ve started masters, I actually enjoy pool time. But it’s secondary to being on the bike.
