So how hot will Wildflower long course be?

WF Veterans,

How hot will it be? How early does it get hot and what is the temp like after the swim (1st part of bike)?

Side note - do they still have the naked aid station on the run? Do you need to get there by a certain time before they put their clothes back on? (Might change my pacing strategy…).

Thanks,

Dave

I would say really f—ing hot! A normal year it is cool in the AM but warming up by 9am and by mid ride, it is hot - well over 80. I know the forecast is calling for a cooling trend and the race day temp to be in the 70’s but I don’t buy it. CA is basically in a heat wave right now (it’s 90 in LA) so go prepared - it will only cool off so much by the weekend.

For all I know the naked chicks at the mile 4 aid station stay out there for most of the day. Be prepared to see naked guys or at least dudes with cowboy hats over thier wankers. This part of the race has really lost its luster. I hope the co-eds can somehow redeem themselves as it has been a sad display the last few years.

Weather.com says 97 right now. Good lord. Being from Seattle, I was hoping for 56 and rain. Thats what I’m used to.

Steve it was like that last year, I was miserable. I am ready for the 100F. I can’t wait, give me some heat.

You are in for it. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate, then hydrate a bit more. Take some endurolytes, too.

Oh, and don’t forget to hydrate.

I imagine the hotter it is, the more naked they are - and the best way for them to cool down would be a naked water fight. Mmmmm naked water fight…

Wow. Great news everyone. Here I was thinking it’d be a lovely 70-degree day. Gonna have to put on my big boy triathlon face for this one.

I live about an hour away from the race site and it is always cooler here than at Lake San Antonio. It was 85 today and the rest of the week should be in the upper 70’s which means that San Antonio is going to be in the 80’s-90’s.

There better be some naked women at that aid station!

Ah, Wildflower. If the heat doesn’t kill you, the hills may. (See elevation map stolen from Dave Bailey, Ph.D. that measures courses in meters.)

After getting hypothermia at World’s Toughest, I am ready for a little baking. (I’ve left my 20 years in damp, cold Seattle behind me.)

Peter, shivering with cold, leaned out into the darkness and pulled the Door to.
