Having lived in San Francisco for 6 years back in the 90’s, I would really like to do this race. I am pretty familar with all aspects of the race, even the swim as I used to windsurf the bay on a daily basis. So how can I get in? Is there a lottery? There is a qualifier around here (in northern Ohio) but it conflicts with IM Wisconsin next month. Any thoughts?
In addition to the web site info on individual entry, I think it is pretty easy to get in as part of a relay team. Last year I had a relay team as a fall back. When I got in via the lottery, I had my son do the swim leg. It made for a great race for the whole extended family.
I was going to suggest committing a really heinous crime, being really bad in your state/federal penitentury, then being sent there as a further punishment. Once there, you could just try and escape. Since they unfortunately don’t use it for actually housing criminals any more, it takes either qualifying or lottery.
Looks like the lottery opend Nov 15. No info other then this. Q–How can I become a participant in the Accenture Escape from Alcatraz event? A–There are several possible ways to earn an application in order to register for the next Accenture Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
1) Qualify in an Escape TO Alcatraz Triathlon race which are posted on our website,
2) Random Drawing registration which opens on November 15th,
3) Entrance and completion of the 3 day Accenture Escape from Alcatraz Ultimate Performance Camp
4) Division champions from previous year’s Accenture Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. Dave
