So here's how my Friday night went

While you all were posting threads about threads, I was at our favorite bar, solo since my wife is out of town visiting her mother. Around 9:45pm I missed two calls in a row, 2 messages.

The first was from my doctor giving me the results of my colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago (which was well documented in the LR). The polyp they removed was the cancerous type, so now I have to be tested again in a year. What kind of doctor leaves info like that on a voice message? I can’t ask followup questions, plus now I get to sweat it out for a year.

Then right after that I had a message from my 76 year old dad, who apparently thought he was calling his G/F. It wasn’t sexual, but it also wasn’t what I needed to hear (my mom’s been gone 2 years but he’s been dating for over a year).

After that I drank heavily…

But did you wake up in the drunk tank?

How did you feel Saturday morning?

On the other hand, the doctor could have said “I have the results. Call me Monday” and you would have had to wait all weekend.

The bright side, you had a necessary procedure that led to fixing a problem. yay science!

Ill raise a toast to a year of good health for you.

Dont begrudge your father, people grieve in different ways.

I watched ‘The Help’.

.

I even let my dad off the hook - I was hoping he couldn’t figure out his call log on his phone and realize he had called me. But he did figure it out, asked me if I had gotten a message from him last night, and I said I did but it was all static and I couldn’t hear it. Didn’t want him to be embarrased about it.

Didn’t end up in the drunk tank, didn’t even feel that bad this morning. I was drinking a lower alcohol Canadian whiskey “Fireball”, only 66 proof.

You know the glory days of youth are over when you’re at the bar getting voice mails about your colonoscopy. That said, that doc just saved your life; I’d say that’s a pretty good voice mail.

One of the funnies things I’ve read on ST in a while.

Glad you are ok George.

So here is how my Saturday went…

Spent a big chunk of the afternoon in the operating room with a woman who had a tumor competely obstructing her colon. Ruined my day and hers.

I bet she is wishing she would have gotten a colonoscopy a couple years ago before it got to all of this.

I would say medically, you got pretty OK news. Now don’t forget to follow up.

The same kind that left a voice message for my Dad " You have fourth stage lung cancer and 4 - 6 months to live , get your a-fares in order "
