Sniffing Spandex Inhibits Good Spelling?

I know everyone jumped all over Simmons’ case for his complaint about traffic due to the LA Tri and his incorrect spelling “triathalon”, but c’mon isn’t traffic something we all complain about? He wasn’t saying triathlons should be illegal, just complaining and being a smartass, basically what he has made a career out of.

Is this really something to be writing complaints to ESPN about? Unless we’re going to be boycotting Specialized for doing the same?

I am no huge Simmons fan, used to read the Sports Guy column, don’t read him much anymore and think Grantland is terrible, but seriously? I think we’re better of supporting the 3 foot law in CA than waging war on Simmons.

FWIW, I didn’t start the Simmons thread because of the spelling mistake, but because of his doucheduffel attitude.

Dan was the one that picked up on the misspelling, and if you can’t see the tremendous irony of seeing Dan picking up on somebody else’s spelling prowess… well, you just haven’t been reading Dan’s posts for long.

How about this for a small world, I just found out my wife’s doctor is Simmons’ mom!

Next time she goes to the doctor I’ll have her tell the doctor, “There’s a coach on an internet triathlon forum that my husband reads who thinks your son is a doucheduffel.”

You make a good point, but your own inability to spell somewhat detracts from the message of the post. :slight_smile:

But you see, I am saying let’s lay off the guy about his bad spelling. Which means I ask for the same leniency.

Writing a front page article about it however…well those in glass houses…
