So a lot of Montana is on fire - one is just 14 miles from my house. Did my usual hour lake swim this morning and felt like I smoked a pack of cigarettes. I’m not an alarmist, but there is some scary stuff going on up here. July was the hottest month in Montana ever in recorded history.
Lakes are very warm this year. Swimming without a wetsuit about 3 weeks earlier than usual. One lake outside of Kalispell, MT heated up so much that all of the fish died. Are these direct results of global warming? Is there such a thing? Should this be something posted on the Lavender Room? Who is Lavender anyway? Hmm…
Global Warming is taking the summer off in Texas. Here it’s exceptionally rainy and cool.
To make it on topic I will wonder aloud about the swim in Town Lake for the Austin Triathlon on Labor Day. When I visited Austin back in early July that was not a body of water you could swim in or want to.

Same here for Tucson Az. The avarage high has been n the mid to low 90’s for nearly all of July and so far Sept has been the same. I’d say our normal July is an avarage of over 102 for highs. We have also had a ton of rain over the past 3-4 weeks, more than our normal monsoon amounts.
Swimming, cycling, and running during wildfires is just resistance training for your lungs. Remember those old pictures of TdF riders having a smoke after the day’s stage?
until this shit happens every day, I wouldn’t care. Just keep going on.
