Small Trek Speed Concept owners

I have an aggressive position and have looked at the numbers available for the small Speed Concept but have to ask what is the lowest height off the ground that one can position the elbow pads. At present, on my P3C, my elbow pads are approximately 78.5 cm/30.9 inches off of the ground and I am wondering it I can get a similarly low position on the small Speed Concept.

Many thanks in advance.

Why are you measuring from the ground? The BB is what matters, and I’m fairly certain that the Speed Concept BB sits lower than the P3C. So for the same position the SC will need the pads lower to the ground. Stack is what you really want to know, and that’s in the stack & reach database.

x2 what bnation said.

FWIW, the SC BB is 1.5cm lower than the P3C.

Get your pad height and distance relative to the BB and then we can go to the SC size chart and see not only the frame size but also the stem & spacer options:

-ground to BB, ground to top of pad, subtract former from latter

-with bike backed against a wall, wall to BB, wall to center of pad, subtract former from latter

How’s the prairie these days?

Mrs. RBK is on a small. Her IM position has 2cm of steerer tube spacers, a ~+10* stem, and the 2cm Vision spacers on top of a Syntace Stratos CX.

Since you’re almost as tall as my wife, ;-), that should give you a decent idea. I’m on a Medium and had to slam everything to get into a TT Club (Bickel) approved position. Since I’m borderline I went with the larger option per Slowman’s suggestion. I’ll bring it back up a bit for longer tris.

If we get a good weekend I might call you about an assault on Mt. Scott.

Stack on a 48 P3 is 46.1

Stack on a small SC is 46.8

I don’t know how the stem system works with a SC but if you can’t go lower than -17° then I would probably be difficult to get as low on the SC as the P3
.

Thanks everyone,

the standover height is nearly identical for the 51 P3C and small Speed Concept. I can always adjust the saddle one way of the other but my elbow pads need to be close to 17cm lower than the saddle so knowing that Speed Concept has a different bottom bracket I thought I would ask folks about the height of their elbow pads off the ground to get a rough idea whether I could get low enough in the front. The stack on my P3C is 482 which is 10 mm less than the small Speed Concept and I use a 13 cm -35 degree stem to get my bars low enough.

Many thanks for the answers.

Many thanks !!
