Small town livin' (House pic!)

I just rode my crusier home from our local Farmer’s Market. I picked up green beans, tomatos, peaches, nectarines and a huge bouquet of fresh flowers all for about $14. (Oh I also had a strawberry lemonade, that was $2 of it.) I think it took me less than 5 minutes to ride there and I ran into my neighbors. I’ve only lived here four weeks and I’m loving it.

If I can ever unearth my camera cable I’ll upload some pictures of my new little pad!

I finally found my camera cable (in the box the camera came in, imagine that!)

Where is this little oasis?

Prosser WA. Small town on the east side of the state. It’s in the middle of Washington wine country which is great!

Sounds idyllic! What a great mental image. I haven’t had strawberrry lemonade in ages. Enjoy the rest of the day. I’m headed to Central Park in a few minutes, which is a slightly different experience.

Good move. I have heard good things about Prosser. Doubt you will miss Tri “track homes” (right?), even though you still have Box Store land not too far away … I also love all those little farm towns between Walla Walla and Pullman.

Wow - that’s a really nice looking place you’ve got there…

I don’t know if I could handle living that far out of a major urban center, but then again I’ve always been close to the city.

I bet the riding and running is great!

I haven’t lived in a major city for years, so I won’t miss that. This really is a small town though, there is one grocery store, one hardware store (True Value) and two bars (I think.) I haven’t checked out the Prosser bar scene yet

Hopefully I’ll love it hear in a year… I’m sure I’ll be hating it in a few months when I have to rake all of the leaves in my yard from that monster tree.

hey, that’s a REALLY cool house. What I originally wanted was a little old bungalow house like this (and bought the exact opposite!). They have soooo much charm. Very cozy. All the cute little houses like this here are EXPENSIVE - $350k+ for 1200 sq feet. Truly crazy.

I love your yard - the one you hate mowing. The grass looks really lush. And that’s a very nice tree, too. A little white picket fence would be perfect. Let’s see some inside pics!

Erin,

Oh my goodness, that is beautiful. I love the color schemes…so tasteful. The tree is nice (they always are), but I have a feeling we could be in for some posts from you in the future about all of the problems it causing you!!! I guess you should enjoy it for what it is, right? Will you have enough sun for a vegetable garden in the future?

What is the story with the garage/shed?

Really, very nice!

Bernie

I’m adding this to my cool places to live list
.

Thanks!

The shed is just big enough for my bikes, lawn mower, work paraphenalia and refrigerator full of insulin samples. I think I will try to fit a small chest freezer in there too.

I’m off to celebrate my nephew’s 1st bday. I’m making the green beans from the farmer’s market with chives and basil from my garden and a little goat cheese, yum!

PS There is enough sun for a garden. I’ll post pic of that and the floors later.

Agreed. We looked for houses in Chicago once. We kept saying, “They want $XXXK for THAT?”, followed by a strange emotion of not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Granted one has access to all these super-cool venues, etc … but after THAT large of a house payment, who has money to for entertainment? grin We still talk about how MUCH one would need to make to live in a house that small, and 2-feet from your neighbor. Not my preference.

Same kind of thing in Kansas City. $200K for an old house, w/ 1-car garage, and 6-rooms, and the house doesn’t even look “that” nice. Sure it’s close to a 4-lane mega-street that joins to an interstate/6-lane road where there’s shopping galore … but is that really a “good” thing?

Very cute! And the market sounds great. The house looks like most of the houses in my hometown in Kansas.

Very nice , my buddy sold his Crack house in a bad neighborhood in San Diego for 375 K a few years ago. He got a large 3 year old home with a shop / building 170K east of Spokane . He likes the warm months and people , but the 5 months below 30 degrees in the AM with a 20 mph wind kick his ass . The few weeks of icy roads aren’t a big deal if your retired ,I guess across the border to Idaho is nice as well .

He misses California getting up in the morning walking out in his shorts , the only way to tell if its December or July is by the color of the neighbors lawn.

                                        Heli

The house I bought was on the market about 90 days when I made my offer. The house I sold was on for 5 weeks, thanks to the St. Joseph statue that I buried in the back yard.

I met up with some people for a ride this morning in Sunnyside. It’s a bigger town, they have a Safeway and several stoplights.

Very cute house. I’m jealous.

nice house, and that tree is AWESOME! do you have kids? you could make a sweet tree house in it. Or you could just climb it!!!

No kiddos except for the two furry ones. I thought they would be all over that tree, but it hasn’t seem to have caught their attention. I’d love to have a tree house up there for myself. I’m sure if I went up the cats would surely follow, they are complete mama’s boys.

oh of course!!! you could go read up there and stuff
