I tried a friend’s SLR on my road bike last week. While a little hard, it was quite comfortable. Before I move the beam on my Softride TT, I thought I’d query all of you about your esperience with the SLR, and whether it works for you in ‘aero?’ I’m concerned about the ‘boys.’ How about the Gelaround in aero. Is it as comfortable as the other two otherwise?
Lastly, how does it compare to the Arrione? Do people who fit the SLR also tend to fit the Arrione?
I have an SLR on my bike which is road geometry that I add bars to for a ‘slam’ position when doing tris. I like the saddle a lot and have no issues with it.
I’ve been riding an SLR with zero problems since Sept 2003. I thought I’d try an Arione to see if it gave me a bit more clearance for my hamstrings (not that I really needed it but I thought I did). Instead all it gave me was heinous saddle sores.
Note - this is only my experience, but if anyone is interested I have an Arione sitting in the box on my floor with ~200mi on it. Private Message me if interested.
I’ll trade you a SLR-XP with 0 miles on it for your Arione! I bought 2 SLR XP’s, used one on my road bike and feels fine while riding on the drops but as soon as I get in the aero position it kills me! I’ve tried playing with seat height, rotation, tilt, angle etc and no luck. I planned on putting the other one on my tri bike but I find it too hard and went with the Aspide Triathlon saddle instead. I always wanted to try an Arione though! Let me know if you’re interested in a trade.
