Slowtwitchers getting some bad press!

IMHO is it is inhabited by a bunch of like thinkers.

Interesting. What’s their consensus on powercranks?

(How’s that for a hijack?!)

Gordo uses them and “likes” them but in the past hasn’t been able to bring himself to say they have helped him to actually improve or become more efficient. Of course, he doesn’t use them the way I would recommend which might explain his “results” or “lack thereof”. I don’t think PC’s have comeup recently so I am not sure there is a concensus but I think many PC users there (and there are a lot of them, many of them here also) are as intimidated about posting their results or opinions on that site as they are here. I don’t like to post there much because I don’t think it appropriate to get into unnecessary “clashes” with Gordo on his site.

Frank

Wait a minute, he likes them, and yet they are heavy, expensive, and don’t make him faster or more efficient? Hmmm…

How many people have told you they are intimidated, or don’t feel comfortable, sharing their results on the boards they frequent? (Not being sarcastic here.)

Why don’t you ask Gordo what he thinks of them? Wonder if he will mention (or knows) that the people who have beat him at IMC the last two years are all pretty much devoted PC’ers. IMHO if Gordo had put his work ethic and natural talent to work on the PC’s he would be in contention in Hawaii by now. Anyhow, if you go there and ask, I will stay out of it.

And, yes people here have admitted they don’t mention PowerCranks because they are afraid of starting 600 post threads. We give a 90 day moneyback guarantee and get about 0.2% returned. 99% report running improvement yet how often do you see PC’s mentioned on “how do I improve my running?” threads?

I look forward to your “review” if and when you get them.

Frank

Gordo’s place is full of extreme tri-geeks who don’t have anything remotely resembling a personal or family life.

…sorry I’m late to this party. I spent the morning at the skatepark with my kids and then took my daughter christmas shopping. We had dinner as a family, and I just got done bathing them, brushing their teeth and reading stories.

Did I miss something? Something about Gordoworld regulars being extreme tri-geeks with no family life…?

Hijack #2 -

Frank…you’ll enjoy this. I was at a b-day party last night and a gentleman came over and asks about my training (found out I’ve done several IMs…yada, yada). John was his name…and you’ve set him up with PC on both a training bike and his Lemond Spinner. He loves them…actually likes using his bike/Computrainer the most. When he received them, he couldn’t last 5 minutes @ 200 watts, now “easily can go a hour”. My gosh, I thought this guy was working me for a commission sale from you! Rather funny. He’s very delighted and mentioned you (and your wife?) have the best service he could ask for…

Thanks for the feedback. There are a few out there who like them so much they have two pair. I have one customer I know of with three pair.

It is hard to find someone who doesn’t report a positive experience in both running and cycling results, at least amongst those who have used them “reasonably”, at least somewhat close to what we recommend. There is another reason (other than intimidation) people don’t post about these (and I have been told this more often than I care to count). The reason is people don’t want the competition to know about them.

Anyhow, scientific studies are in progress. I look forward to the results getting published. I look forward to the discussions here after they are.

A statement in your post caught my attention. I have been experiencing some issues that I suspect are related to my adrenal glands. could you elaborate on the problems you had? I understand if you prefer not to.

age groupers more or less pay these guys bills.

Hey! where’s my check?

I’ve hardly ever complained about criticism and Gordo certainly hasn’t. If some people here are upset by that remark maybe they need some thicker skin too.

In the mail!

Can I ask a monday morning ST quarterback question? Why the slow cadence?

Its been sent. Bought a P3. Just got some Craft XC ski tights.

Without getting in to a long argument about this. Low cadence was self selected and something I didn’t think much about until people started commenting on it when I was 15-16 something. Luckily we had no gearing restrictions in Swedish triathlon when I was a junior…

Nice! Keep it coming!

Hey, Joe Wylie-Coyote, I’m one of the ones not so comfortable with discussing PC’s any more. It just gets pointless to argue with people that have had no experience on them…even though some of those people are very intelligent and have a lot to offer from a strictly scientific viewpoint. After a while, all the theory just doesn’t matter. I ride mine and like to do so. I think they help my biking, I’m 100% positive they help my running. It will be interesting to hear about your experiences with them.

Keep up the great work Bjorn! I think the reason people question your style or tactics is because they want to learn how to ride as fast. I think everyone on this board was rooting for you on October 16th, and will continue to root for you in the future.

Little do they know, the secret to ride fast in the summer is to drink plenty of GLOGG over the winter!

God Jul & Got Nytt Ar!

I think that makes a lot of sense actually. After all, how do you tell somebody something they do not know? Furthermore, if they already know, then what are you trying to tell them?

Low cadence was self selected…

This may result in some thread drift, but do you have any idea how far off the ground you get in a standing vertical jump test?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess you’re on the opposite end of the bell shaped curve of say… Michael Jordan. (indicating you’re heavily skewed to the slow twitch muscle fiber end of the spectrum) That might explain your self selected preference to low cadences.

I dont think there was any “slam” or anything negative at all in the post. He said correctly that there are those on this board that play monday morning Ironman champion and question how and why people make the decisions they do. Big friggin deal.

The next post is what intrigues me. Apparently the guy visits a trans-sexual board that calls us slowtwits!

You think it races as a woman or a man?

So which intriques you more, Elund, me being a man or you pretending I’m a woman?

I be a man, big guy… who posts and reads on three different Forums. Here I am a “SlowTwit”… On the Australian triathlon forum, Transitions, I am a “Trannie”… and apparently (I just found this out), on Gordo’s Forum I am an “Extreme Tri-geek”. I enjoy the different perspective that each Forum brings to the table, and don’t take myself so seriously that I can’t relate to, and participate in, all of them.

I was just curious. The trend has been to ride at high cadence, but low cadence seems to work very well for you. Good luck in 2005!

I second this!

God Jul & Got Nytt Ar!

I agree with you. In fact I’m gonna drink plenty of GLÖGG this weekend when Jonas Colting and I are having our annual winter bathing and sauna day togheter with some friends.

God Jul & Gott Nytt År

Bjorn, don’t forget to roll in the snow!
