Is there some way that Slowtwitchers ID each other at races, or is there an informal gathering, or anything. Or do we buy some ST gear and wear it? I think I know Dan’s vote, but I didn’t see a hat, or something you would wear except when actually racing. How about a Livestrong type bracelet? Surely Dan could come up with some charity that would get 1 cent from every dollar, and then he could hawk it as a good cause. Dan, if you do this, I want 5% of gross proceeds.
During the marking, get them to write a big “ST” on your forehead?
I like this idea. I meet St’ers all over the world. It is a small little virtual community. It is always fun. Always pleasant personalities.
I’d wear an ST bracelet. I like that idea.
Not during the race, necessarily. Preceding days, expo, when you are out to eat, party, etc. Look for that one particular ass you have been waiting to smashmouth, and Blammo.
exactly.
hopefully when the TSR jerseys are shipped, that would be a dead giveaway to spot a member. bracelet is a good idea though, but may be tricky to sight from afar.
Wear a T-Shirt that says “Are you Mr. Tibbs?” on it…people will know. worked for me at IMLP
Always pleasant personalities.
That may be a stretch, but I see you are with the program. If you can get to Dan, bump me to 7.5% of gross, and you are in for 2.5%. He’ll listen to you. Plus, if you get behind it, it will be well-received.
Would you pay 5 bucks for set of Slowtwitch.com decals, rub on, your choce of colors? http://bikenames.com/onlinestore.htm
I would wear an ST bracelet too. I just did the Duke 1/2 and had several people recognize me on the bike because I had mentioned in this forum that I would probably be the only one there in an Austin Triathletes top.

PS: If you were one of the people who called out to me - THANKS! That was my first half and it really helped since I didn’t know anyone at the race otherwise.
Love the bracelet idea - like Live Strong - you can see them on people, but it is not something that sticks out like a sore thumb.
If you know to look for them you can find them on people easy
I put TSR on my rear wheel. so far, I have met Ken. He’s a lot faster than me.
I also met Longspur in New York, but neither of us realized it until a week later. The TNO’s were there in force. We need to step up.
My TSR had has worked at race expos. You can buy online through Hid right now.

It’s a good idea. I mentioned a while ago that there should be a Slowtwitch headsweat, which I would gladly wear during the run portion of events or when training, but Dan said he wasn’t going to feed my already out of control doo-rag habit(okay, he didn’t really say that). Something that can be worn visibly, other than the jersey or shorts, which you can really only wear during an event, would be good, and my guess is that Dan could sell quite a few of them.
Even, dare I say it? a baseball cap could probably sell pretty good. Or Dan could use them as a write-off and use them as an incentive to get his rabid flock to do his bidding.
Then, of course, would come the bumper stickers:
Slowtwitchers do it longer
Slowtwitch: preferred by Fe males
I can SlowTwitch for 12 hours+. How long can you go?
Slowtwitch: Three ways to get your heart pumping faster
And many, many more lame one-liners.
I like the t-shirt idea…seriously, Mr. Tibbs, you should make an appearance at the IMFL to cheer your fellow STs on…your presence will give us a good boost!
I could see Mr. Tibbs giving a motivational speech in the verbage of Hunter S. Thompson.
"It was out in the flats, a strange thing occured. How long could I maintain? I wondered. How long until I start raving and jabbering at the volunteers? What will they think then? This same lonely beach was the last known home of the Manson family; will they make that grim connection when my attorney starts screaming about bats and huge manta rays coming down on the bike? If so, well, I’ll just have to cut their heads off and bury them somewhere, 'cause it goes without saying that I can’t turn them loose. they’d report me at once to some kind of outback Nazi law enforcement agency and they’ll run me down like a dog. Jesus, did I say that? Or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me? "
