Anyone interested? I’ve done this before and it’s a fun way to follow the Tour.
Rules:
Pick 3 riders before the start of each stage. A thread will be started each day where you can post your rider choices.
Alternatively: PM me with your picks if you want to keep them secret. I will post pm’d choices before the stage start.
Only the top 5 riders in each stage earn points 12-8-5-3-2.
End of race bonus points. Pick 3 riders for GC before the begining of Tour. Pick one rider for Green Jersey.
GC bonuses go 5 deep: 15-10-7-5-3
Green Jersey Bonuses go 3 deep: 10-7-4
All results final at podium presentation. No score changes due to later doping positives, etc…
No rider changes once posted. Edited posts will not be counted.
Tiebreaker: most stage winnners picked, then most 2nd places picked, etc…
As far as prizes, we can just go with bragging rights or we could have entrants agree to send the winner a very small tri-related item(goggles, ez laces, etc…). Which do you guys prefer?
As far as the low points for GC winner, the thought is it’s really just an added bonus to make things interesting at the end. The idea is that the person who performs the most consistently day by day has the best chance to win rather than the person who guesses the winners before the race even starts. If enough people feel the same way as you do, I’ll up the points some.
Only reason stuff like teams competition, polka-dot jersey, white jersey, etc… are left off is not to make things too complicated. I figure fewer people know that stuff and I didn’t want to scare more casual watchers off. If this was a cycling forum instead of a tri forum, definitely, but I doubt most people around here know anything about Remy di Gregorio, Juan Jose Cobo, Thomas Dekker, Jose Angel Gomez Marchante, etc…In fact I think most people would be hard-pressed to name a rider who wasn’t on CSC, Discovery, T-Mobile, Quick Step or Astana.
