Slowtwitch Program Coaches: Welcome

first things first. you’re going to have to get used to my typing sans caps, except for emphasis. it’s just been that way for the 15 years i’ve been moderating the slowtwitch forums. you, however, can use caps all you want.

i have zero expectations for this forum. the ONLY people reading this (on paper, at least) are the coaches who’ve asked to have read/write access to this forum, and manufacturers who offer coaches programs to them. the idea behind this forum is for you all to talk to certain program manufacturers, who will or should be the makers engaged in certain classes of products that have a special intersection between coach and user, that is, where the coach is often the primary touch point.

the first 2 such companies, as of this writing, as of the formation of this forum, are computrainer and swimovate. the point of this forum is for coaches to talk/reason/suggest/bitch at each other and to the companies who are here, and for the manufacturers to answer/help/communicate/facepalm back to the coaches. the end result should, i hope, be a hammering out of new, better ideas, a cauldron of fire, so to speak, helping all parties up their games.

this may end up being a poorly populated forum. most new forums are. it may end up being a wildly successful forum. you never know. i will not circumscribe what it is you can talk about. if you want to talk about coaching certifications and clinics, the business of coaching, how much you all charge, how much you should charge, everything is okay. the only thing (until i think up new things) i would ask you to do is keep private the identities of your clients.

with that, welcome, and if there are “rules” that it seems in the future need to attend this forum i’ll post them in a sticky thread atop the forum.

Dan…thanks for getting this up and running. I think this is a great opportunity for coaches to communicate with each other and the product developers and suppliers. We see the products from a slightly different perspective than the athlete as we are doing most of the analysis (I know some athletes are very informed).

Look forward to sharing and learning.

Thanks,
coach Boris

Thanks Dan, great to have this up and going!

Thanks Dan for getting this setup. I am definitely excited to interact with the vendors because we do hear things and see things that sometimes do not flow back up to the manufacturers.

the rest of you guys, who are new here, MarkyV, aka m_arky_v, aka markyv, is a regular on our triathlon forum. see what i have to put up with?

I like to think that I keep you young
.

Currently, our view of the forums does not show the SPC. Are you planning on adding this?

what’s the SPC?

Slowtwitch Program Coaches
.

oh. that. yeah.

are you asking me to list the 325 or so current program coaches in a particular place? the names of these coaches? or, i can add this designation to your slowtwitch coaches dbase. i’m happy to accommodate. what do you have in mind?

I meant: have a link directly to this forum on the horizontal bar where the forum selection is.
Just for easy access instead of typing 11 for the forum code in the URL bar.

oh, yes. there are a couple of forums like this. fitters, for example. i’m having jordan add these forums to that list. create some new forum logos for the navbar up top. be a couple of days, depending on his schedule.

I’m sure Jordan uses some content management system so that the views of the forums vary based on the group each user
belongs to. It should be minimal implementation requirements.

we’re not that smart, and we don’t use our CMS to select forums. we don’t have that many forums. it shouldn’t be hard and it won’t take a long time to get this done.

Thanks Dan - I appreciate your work here!

Many thanks Dan for putting the time in to get this forum set up. I really appreciate the opportunity to talk shop with other coaches outside of other coaching groups (ie USAT, USAC etc).
