The Slowtwitch archives contain threads on just about every triathlon topic that ever was. From tubular gluing, to what seatpost is fastest, healthiest meals, and genital cream, very few base topics have been left untouched.
So what happens when the easiest answer to a posters’ question is to reply with a link to a thread from the past? Of course this will never happen, but surely the realm of new information is shrinking.
Super-mega bonus points to anyone posting a link to a past discussion of this topic.
You must have a minor in philosophy. And I really like the link right back to this thread. Hilarious.
It is sort of like having subscriptions to Runner’s World, Triathlete, Inside Triathlon. It seems like a lot of the topics and advice are just recycled. It reminds me of Pulp Fiction where the story is told but from several different perspectives.
“but surely the realm of new information is shrinking.”
Actually I think just the opposite, the realm of new information is expanding exponentially.
For every new bit of inforamtion that is learned it leads to a seemingly endless path of other information.
I think what is an issue is that some information is repeated regularly adn thus it would appear that we have nothing new to talk about triathlon related.
I would think that if any of us…ok most of us…sat down and tried to think WAYYYYYY outisde the box we could all come up with a topic never before discussed on ST…probably even tri related.
That is what is so interesting about knowledge. You can never have too much, nor can anyone ever say they know everything about anything. Just think aobut how much we keep learning about the human body. I would bet the training we do now is nowhere even close to what people will be doing 50 years from now. Things are constantly changing and new and better ways of doing things are ever changing. There can never be enough information.
