SlowTwitch EUROPE? Make a new Forum for Europe to benefit ALL

I’m new here and I noticed something straight away. You’re almost all Americans  *(Edited: I previously said “Yankee” but learned that this was not good for the Southern people of your country  ** *

Summary to save you from my caffeine powered rant:
My first point: Is there a place for a new “Europe Section or Forum” on this site? Would it hurt to add that section?
My second point: Come on over for some damn good races!!

I haven’t yet seen very many posts/members from Europe (I’ve seen quite a few about the UK however)? Don’t forget about us because we’re people too, and we know how to race d— it. Of course over here you see a lot more white biker shorts on men which no matter what country you’re from, just sucks. But we are still worth the airfare and sensuous pat downs your airport security people give you on the way out of your country. (Don’t worry, on the way home we don’t do that to you

But I am curious if there are many members of STwitch in Europe? **I am in Austria and finding good sites like this in ENGLISH but based in EUROPE is nearly impossible for insanely obvious reasons. ** This is the only site I have found with this much activity and resources but unfortunately for us English speakers in Europe, it is almost solely AMERICAN based and focused (again for painfully obvious reasons). Can we share in the resources on your site? (I just realized I might sound like I’m speaking for all of Europe right now) Anyway. We love you folks over the big pond (I think you helped us get rid of the little mini mustached tyrant a few years back, so a belated thank you for that!) but don’t forget we have some AMAZING Tri events here in Europe and especially in Germany, Austria, and now Budapest (two hours from Vienna).

Tri is huge here and we have a plethora of local and IM branded events! IM Zell Am See is a true destination race if there ever was one! The scenery incredible, the crowd insane, and the race is just generally one you will never forget. http://www.ironman.com/...n.aspx#axzz3EA1M74H6

As a matter of fact, I believe the 2015 IM 70.3 championships are in Zell am See (Prounounced: Zell am Zay) next year. So a 70.3 for us mortals on Saturday and a championship 70.3 for the gods on carbon fiber rockets the very next day. The water is so clean that during your swim you can actually DRINK IT! Trust me. I did. People fill their water bottles for their bike ride in the lake! None of this is hyperbole.

We also have IM St. Polten, IM Klagenfurt. Another insanely beautiful race. http://www.ironman.com/...a.aspx#axzz3EA1M74H6

Just a short train ride from here we have a brand new IM branded race that is the most insanely beautiful course you can imagine! IM Budapest. If you haven’t been to Budapest get there; and there is no better reason to go than for a good race. They ran their first iteration of IM this year and the owner of the race who is a 80 (something) time IM finisher (not sure of exact number but this guy is a stud even at his age now) and he did this recent 1st year race right! It was off the charts fun and the bike ride is through one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe! Click below to see if I’m telling the truth!

We have other non branded events like this: http://www.austria-triathlon.at/news in Podersdorf Austria near the Hungarian border.

So. I guess my other point is that if there are any European members, maybe this could be your baseline forum on STwitch? Got any good races I haven’t mentioned, any places or dates or issues regarding Europe? Perhaps we use this site to get to know one another and or introduce ourselves and swap race information? Maybe the mods/admin could create a “Europe Forum” on ST? If you do, the visitors will come. I have several friends that have noticed this site, but they said they didn’t see much about Europe.

Anybody coming this way for one of the races I’ve mentioned and needs tips or information. Maybe I or anyone that posts after me can help. We sort of know how to get things done over here. Anybody needs anything, especially in the Germany Austria region, let me know.

P.s. I have no affiliation with IM other than being an age grouper.

Invoking Godwin’s law on the first post! Nice!

cool story bro.

Thank for the introduction. It was a simple joke to make people smile. You’re a person of few words.

Wanna share "what you are? That was sort of the whole gist of the post.

Do you have non-Ironman branded events in Europe? It’s hard to tell from your post.

I’m not sure if you have access to Google over in Austria to find these things, but there is a fairly active German triathlon forum:

Good point. I’m going to edit my main post just now.

I’m just trying to figure out why you have maple syrup in your name if you aren’t Canadian?

I’m just trying to figure out why you have maple syrup in your name if you aren’t Canadian?

I guess he’ saying he’s just as fast as maple syrup. If that’s the case is he even allowed on ST?

I’m gonna guess its a knock on himself. Comparing his speed to that of maple syrup? Probably could’ve been molasses too.

I’m guessing, really just spitballing here, but since his name is “JasoninHalifax”, I’m guessing he is from Nova Scotia.

We have people here from Australia, Germany, Denmark, I believe Halvard is from Norway, there’s a lot of people from all over the place. Oh, and just a small tip, for those that are in the Southern US, they often don’t take too kindly to being called Yankees.

John

Sorry. I am Canadian. I married an Austrian woman a few years back and have been wearing Lederhosen and drinking thick wheaty beers ever since!

There are over 20 cities in the world named Halifax. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax. Thanks for the geography lesson. New on the site, not in life.

The simple fact that you are here, and I am here sort of says a lot. I’ve edited my original to be a bit more clear.

What is this “google” you speak of? I like sarcastic comedians. They’re my favorite.

Thanks

What is this “goodle” you speak of? I like sarcastic comedians. They’re my favorite.

Thanks

Hmm. I thought you were just being a dolt, but apparently goodle is an actual word (ya know, according to the highly credible Urban Dictionary).

I think I have done my part of promoting events in Norway and Scandinavia.
I know ST has many Norwegian readers but often use local channels to interact if the questions are of local nature.
ST is a good place to ask about Norseman and Haugesund 70.3, but if you have questions about Uvedal Triathlon and Tuddal Triathlon, local sites or Facebook is better.

I’m just trying to be nice to people that have to use sarcasm to communicate. Goodle was a joke as in the movie “Borat” where he routinely mixed up words. Re read it and maybe it’ll hit ya in that reference.

Actually, I think you should not have edited your post and left it as ‘goodle’. That was a tad bit more clever, even if accidental.

After living over a decade in Europe and the UK, I have raced, and trained there and go back now as often as I can. Europe is an amazing place for racing with much better venues than most in NA (I am sure that will incite a riot). I always have firmly believed that doing an IM should be not just a race, but a true holiday in an amazing place like Zurich or Nice or Western OZ or many other great places. Having raced here in the US in TX, CDA, St George, Alabama, Utah, Colorado and Hawaii (mix of IM and XTERRA races), most do not even compare to the European ones for the spectacle, outside of the race fun and sightseeing or adventure. I definitely think ST’ers need to get out of the US for a few races in their lives!

Best,
Jack

I came to this site to meet cool people and talk about the sport we all love but apparently there are a few people that simply want to make ad hominem attacks of varying sarcastic degrees. So rather than jump into the fray, I’m going to sign off for the night and just read all of the attacks in the morning. Sorry if I have offended anyone with my screen name or my terminology, it was not my intent.

I think you misunderstand… I was complimenting you on a clever use of a word, used correctly, in an appropriate setting. I thought it was well done.
