We will be getting into Ottawa around 18h and will be heading straight to the course for race kit pickup. After which, we are off to my friends’ place for the night.
If there is any change in our dinner plans, we will try to scoot down to the Lone Star- at least to say ‘hi’ . If not, maybe I’ll see you Sat. .
Mike, I will be at my office till fairly late this evening and I will only do my race packet pickup onsite on Saturday. I’ll end up eating at home this evening with my family given that I will be more or less gone all day tomorrow.
My plan for Saturday is to race the half ironman in the morning and head back to Kanata (west end of Ottawa) to rest up a bit, have dinner, gather up a group of volunteers that live in my end of town and then we will work at the finish line of the Iron Distance race from 6:30 pm till the last finisher and cleanup.
So if any of you want to swing by the finish area in the evening, I’ll be there helping dudes after they cross the line !
That sounds like a good idea. We will be doing the Sprint and with three young girls in tow will most likely leave the race and come back for a bit in the evening. Looks like my two girls got the volunteer bug at the 1000 Islands Tri and want to do the same at this one.
How wrong am I to be looking forward to a big dinner at Don Alfonso’s while there are still Iron-racers out on the course??!!
Mike given that you guys in the sprint were in a different T zone and given that you guys were off the bike as we in the half were starting the bike, we were pretty well out of synch. You guys were done your run and off for lunch, by the time I crossed the line at 1:40 pm…no wonder I was dying on the run. That is way too late to end a half Ironman given breakfast at 6:15 am !
In any event, I hope your race went well, and we will be putting pressure on the RD to move the T-zone back to the original spot on the bridge that worked much better in past.
