Slowtwitch Bike Fit Manager - large saddle setback measurement limit?

I have finally got round to playing with the Bike Fit Manager linked to my profile. It looks as if it will be an interesting tool but it won’t accept my saddle setback measurement as a valid one.

My measured setback (Plumb line, saddle nose to BB) is 103mm behind the bb. This is on my road bike and I am 198cm tall (6’5") so it isn’t as ridiculous as it may sound to those of you who may be more familiar with steep tt setups.

I get a message advising me that all measurements must be in millimetres and get bounced back to the page where the data is entered. The larget figure that I can get the program to accept is 90mm - is this a limit within the program or am I going mad/doing something stoopid?

I suppose I should pm Slowman, but thought its a good excuse to up my post count a little.

I am pretty sure 90 is the limit. I remember Rappstar posting something about it.
I suppose you could put it at 90 and then just make a note with the real measurement in the comments section.

oops, these people who don’t do a search before posting are just so annoying.

So the next question, why is the taller athlete being discriminated against?

Quite sadly, I’ve managed to remember these measurements after setting up a few bikes to the same coordinates but your suggestion of putting a note in the comments is a good one, thanks.

Rather selfishly I am anticipating the next development from Slowman - a tool that uses his equations for armrest drop from the FIST articles to extrapolate a tri bike position from a road bike one. I’d like to have my start figures all stored and ready to go!

I have put the equations into an Excel spreadsheet and calculated a position for a customer who was switching from a road bike to a P2C. The result was a position that was immediately comfortable for a very experienced multi-ironman. There was a small amount of tweaking for armrest reach but nothing major. I’m going to set a TT bike up for myself this spring using the same method.

i did a quick search and could find anything, so maybe I was imagining that.
I did see something in my search were slowman said the main focus of the fit manager would be tri bikes, so maybe they just randomly chose 90mm for road bikes. Although I think both Rappstar and Slowman are part of the over 6ft club (as am I) so I don’t know why they would discriminate against there own kind

UPDATE: we’ve fixed this. I set 130mm (on SuperDave’s recommendation) as the new limit.

cool, thanks!
Now if you could just fix the bug on the training log that only lets 10 of your routes show up when you go to log a workout I would be one happy camper
