Is the site being hacked or does this mean another “improvement” is in the offing? My bookmark doesn’t take me directly to the forum anymore and all the other stuff has changed. Whazzup?

the site is not being hacked. the site is being worked on. for those of you who’re interested in such things, what’s going on is as follows:

our dynamically generated forum pages are not “search engine friendly.” as you might guess, if these threads and posts were “.html” suffixed, they’d be dominating most triathlon-type queries. me, as an ambitious guy, would like to have that be the case. so, we’re changing how the forum pages are “named.” this will be largely or entirely transparent to you.

the basic starting point for this forum is a package called “gossamer threads.” it’s an excellent platform for a forum board, but i’ve done extensive customization on the “stock” package (you’ve seen a lot of jordan’s custom work this summer). when we sent to a new set of “search engine friendly” templates a lot of the stock templates were uploaded instead of search engine friendly versions of our custom templates.

so, it being the end of every western north american’s workday, i just had the old templates restored, and we’ll take another crack at this tomorrow.

yessir. i have a couple of very BIG and EXPENSIVE upgrades that are not marketing, but content, specific that are occurring from 30-120 days, and so any marketing upgrades i can do are helpful :wink:

I think you can find all of BarryP’s running posts in one place on slowtwiki. I read them all over again the other day, it was a good review.
