Slowest Ironman winning marathon?

In the media profiles for IMNZ 2003 it had Garret MacFadyen listed as swimming the slowest ever swim to win an Ironman (61mins and change I think - for IMC). I remember as he flew past me on the bike that I’d happily give him my 53mins for a bit of his horse power!

Was just wondering if anyone knows the slowest marathon that has won an Ironman.

What ever it may be I reckon Bjorn will be taking that title in the not too distant future. Scary to think that if he can get much under 3:10, almost everyone will be playing for second!

Yhea I knew someone would get me on that… lets say post 1990.

Actually, it may have been the year J. Howard won. Gordon was a pretty good runner.

Uhm… Harju’s win last year in Wisconsin?

When Jurgen Zäck won IM Austria in, I think, 2001 he rode incredibly fast but ran so-so. I think it was 3.05-3.06 but his approx. 4.15 on the bike gave him enough room to hold on to DeBooms charge.

So I’m in “front” right now with Harju’s 3:12:33 marathon in IM Moo 2003
.

3:12 or 3:13
.

Now why, oh why didn’t he ran that this year!

The best just keep coming stronger…

MJ 3:28:xx would be up there for the ladies I would reckon. For the men, not sure, but around the 3:10 mark as others have suggested.

pinkboy…working on cracking 3:30 next year

jan strangmuller with a 3h21 at IM Korea 2003,

Don’t forget about this one from Malaysia 2002…
