Does anyone have opinion on why older AGs tend to have relatively slower times in the swim portion of triathlons? Seems like they hold their own on the bike and then lose more time in the swim and the run for tris of all distances as they age up…there are exceptions, but I was just curious?
No idea, but the older folks I see who do a lot of swimming are not getting any slower.

You mean like the 50+ guy that lead the swim in Hawaii this year, and beat all the pros by about 2 minutes??? Old people are no slower that anyone else in their respective AG. Everyone gets slower as they age, just some at different paces. Some of the really slow swimmers in the older AG’s were never swimmers to begin with, and we all know the older you get, the harder it is to learn to swim fast. If you didn’t do it as a kid, then it is a chore for everyone, but especially the baby boomers…

Live it every day ;-(
Define older.
