Slipstream signings for next year

Jonathan Vaughters was just on Eurosport radio and said Millar, Zabriskie, and an unnamed former winner of Paris-Roubaix were all signed for next year’s team. He also said there are more signings but they can’t be announced until after their contracts are up, something about UCI rules.

Anyone know who the P-R signee might be?

So he already broke UCI rules.

Maybe Magnus? On the cyclingnews.com coverage they said that Vande Velde announced he’s moving to Slipstream next year too…

So he already broke UCI rules.

No, new signings can be announced now if the rider’s current team allows it.

I actually know that, just commenting on the way the original post was written. Most people who don’t follow cycling as much as I (we?) do would think what I posted.

My bet as well - Magnus B would be a great addition to the Slipstream team.

“ass” - Julian in England
.

Hey leave me out of this, Paulo.

You take snips at me in other places times enough to warrant this. You brits are a little oversensitive.

cancellara would be an odd choice - considering they already have Zabriskie and Millar. They probably couldn’t afford Boonen, Van Petegem is a little old, so it’s probably O’Grady or Backstedt. Personally, I like O’Grady, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to announce his signing if they already announced Z.

You Spanish aren’t much better either.

They’re making a real push to get into the Tour next year. They’ve made some huge signings. The only one I question is Millar, while his ability is huge, and he’s very out spoken against doping, with the team priding themselves on an anti-doping platform and clean racing, having a rider who has a past of doping could send mixed messages. I’d like to believe that he’s racing clean now, since he knows he’s under the microscope but still, his past makes you doubt a little.

Vandevelde is a great addition, smae would be big Maggie if that’s their P-R signee. The other posibility is the veteran Peter Van Petegem.

Actually, the joke you wanted to make was “You Iberians aren’t much better”, but getting that right would be expecting too much of you.

No I said what I meant. Unlike you I don’t set out to offend everytime I post, that is and will always remain the difference between us.

Don’t bother to respond as I shan’t be reading it.

Vandevelde (CSC) said during stage 20 TV coverage that he was going to Slipstream. One of the commentators also mentioned Millar (Saunier Duval Prodir) would be going. I’ve heard Zabriskie (CSC) and Hincapie (Discovery) were going as well, but it’s just a rumor at this point.

No, please comeback!

Then Vaughters would be sending mixed messages as well, right? He seems to have implicitly admitted to not being 100% clean in his past. I think having somebody like Millar would be great for the younger guys at Slipstream; those who have seen the darkness can appreciate the light all the better.

I wonder if those guys are going to show up to any of the NRC events next year. That’d be sweet to do a TT v. Zabriskie and Millar.

With the signings of Zabriskie, Millar, et all, I would imagine they’d be racing more in Europe than the NRC races. Moeny is better over there and so too is the competition. Plus Vaughters has explicitly stated he wants a team for the Tour and racing in Europe is the way to get a wildcard.

Agreed 100%. I just figure maybe they’ll be times when they are over here and just want to do a tune-up workout/race. It’d be fun for guys like myself to compete against them.

I don’t remember where I saw or heard this rumor (probably here) but I heard one of their possible signings was Big George. I was surprised when I heard that because I always assumed he would be a Moto/Postie/Disco boy and retire as such. I guess we will have to wait and see.
