I’m doing Norseman and a couple of other Ironman events next year.
My problem is the Norseman bike choice. I’m 186cm and I ride a 56cm Slice RS. Very happy with the bike when doing flat races, not so happy when it’s hilly, Norseman is alot of climbing. I feel like I could lick my front wheel when riding the bullhorns. So question, is there any way to make this bike feel more like a roadbike when standing, or should I just do as many others do and use my Roadbike (S-works tarmac) with clip-ons? Are there any bars that looks like the opposite of the PRO Missiles for example, that get’s in a more upwars pos in the horns?
Congratulation on your spot at Norseman. Trust me, it is a fantastic race.
At Norseman you will see athletes ride with triathlon bikes as well as road bikes, and some with hybrids - aero road bikes. I rode a Cervelo S5 with the seat at the front position, and I had clip-ons with DI2.
Ride the bike you feel most comfortable on, yes you will have a lot of uphill but also flats and downhill. So you have to find the sweet spot for aero, climbing and TT for you.
I passed both road bikes and triathlon bikes, and got passed by road bikes and triathlon bikes
