First let me say, I am not a professional runner or blogger. I have no affiliation with Skora, this is just my unbiased review.
I pre ordered these after reading a review on a fellow Slowtwitcher’s blog (www.RunningontheWhiteLine.com). I typically run in either Newton Distance or Saucony Hattorri, and for reference right now I’m only running about 35mi per week.
I received them Tuesday 2/28/12. When I first opened the box I was pleasantly surprised, they actually looked better, both in quality and looks than the web site shows.
My first run was a short 6 miler, in the first half mile I let my feet adjust to the new shoes and then the first thought that popped in my head was “this is what a running shoe should feel like”. They are cut nicely, low around the ankle and have 2 adjustable closures that are awesome. My right foot is slightly smaller than my left and it allows you to really dial in the fit for each foot. They have a minimalist feel, but hug your foot so they don’t slip and slide under your foot. To me they feel like running barefoot on soft carpet. They offer great feel of the road but still offer plenty of protection.
I have done also a 9mi and 13mi run in these and really like them, they are my new go to shoe, and I’ll be ordering another pair for the rotation in silver. They are cheaper than the Newtons and will probably last longer, so that is a benefit for me as well as I am just an average AG’er with an average income.
On a side note, the blog I mentioned earlier is great. Lots of good stuff on there.
If anyone else is using these shoes I would love to hear your opinions and comments.
Saw these the other day via a commenter on a review for Altra zero drops. I just started running with Saucony Kinvara and Hattori, really like both. Might have to give this one a try too, as I really like a flat shoe. I find I pronate more with a higher heel. I tried the Altras for a while, liked them at first, but haven’t started to feel weird - can’t really put my finger on it, just doesn’t feel right. And I still like doing up to 6 miles in vibrams, but starting to get tired of the smell / process of putting them on.
Nice review! I have been testing a pair of the Base model for over a month now for my site YMMV Reviews. I have put about 50 mile sin mine so far and have been pleasantly surprised. The upper breathes well. I tested them on Hawaii on vacation and they were great. I wore them on a 18 mile run without socks and had no issues with blisters which is saying something for me. While there is not a whole lot of cushioning, the amount it has is perfect for allowing a little ground feel but protecting your foot. I agree with the the OP in that they are secure and would be a quick on and off for T2. The shoes seems to just run smooth. Hard to explain. I should have the full review up in a couple weeks so you will have to stayed tuned. If anyone has any questions, let me know.
I have put 200 miles in a wear test pair of Bases (including a 100 mile ultra), 600 in a second pair of Bases (including a 50 mile trail ultra), and my current pair of FORMS have 290 miles in them.
The Base would be so good for a short course athlete looking for a light and very easy to slip on shoe for T2.
I went out for another 8 mi run this weekend and went sockless, they felt great. I think I can go completely sockless for all distances with these. I have a 200 mile relay next month ( my mileage totals around 20) and Half Iron next month, both 1 week apart. Im going to try sockless in both races.

Thanks for the review. Just as a reference, how much do you weigh and have you always been a midfoot striker? Did you slowly transition to the Newtons/Hattorri?
nice review. the shoes though look very similar to NB minimus trail version - i tried to run in those in a HM on asphalt and it wasn’t great for my feet and my finishing time…

I’m about 5’8" 170lbs, I have an athletic build( wish I could drop to 155 but I dont know if I can get that low ).
I’ve always been a forefoot striker, judging by the wear patterns on my shoes. Before the Skoras,Hattoris and Sauconys I primarily ran in racing flats becouse bulky trainers with support actually hurt my ITB, joints and feet.
I do feel that the Newtons put a little extra stress on the achillies and calf and it would be easier to transition with something else. Just my opinion.
Recently, Gumption Gear Review tested the Forms. Generally, they really like the fit and performance of the shoe, but wondered how the leather upper would fair during the hot summer months. http://www.gogumption.com/go-run/skora-form/
Due to the limited budget this year, we are not making it to Boston. I’m hoping we can get there next year though, I’ll see what I can do In April we will be at the Eugene Marathon in Skora’s home state of Oregon however.
Also that is my comment in the section below the review at Gumption Gear.

I have not tried the Skora, but I did run for a while in the Minimus Trail. I thought that shoe was the greatest ever in the store but was not so great when I actually took it out running. The mid-sole and rubber was so soft that even the smallest rocks were felt and on the road they did not provide much cushion, so I don’t think your experience was unique.
