Japanese clothing retailer that sells only reasonably priced house brands. There’s one store in Victoria (Mayfair shopping center) and 5 in Vancouver.
Their stuff is great quality and can be pretty stylish, especially for the money. I’m sure BCT’s wife and kids know about it.
Well no wonder it’s not on my radar…
I got back into the games 3 years ago.
16 Days this season. Mammoth / Winter Park / The Powder Hwy.
Now I have the gear I want and making some trips of a lifetime. I just got back from a week on the powder hwy. 2 days Revelstoke 1 Kicking Horse and 3 at Banff / Lake Louise.
The setup is Lange Shadow 130’s
Quiver: Moment Coutach 104s Daily Driver / Moment Countach 110s new for this trip pic / Salomon Stance 90 - Old Crusty Snow and a fabulous bump ski.
How are the Countachs? I’m currently at Whistler on my Moment Bobby Pros (being optimistic about the snow forecast). My usuals are Moment Commanders but the Countachs sound like a more mellow version which intrigues me.
Love the pics! I don’t ski but I check in on this thread for the pics!
How was kicking horse compared to Revelstoke?
I’ve been to Revy - loved it despite bad conditions on the day. I hear kicking horse is just next level difficulty though.
Kicking Horse is legit scary AF!!!
There is some seriously scary stuff off of the top of the Gondola, and if you Boot Pack you will really find scary stuff.
The runs there are LONG as you cant lap stuff without going to the bottom…..
That’s quite a family resemblance!
I want to get back to Tremblant next year. We love the village and the vibe. I’m the only one who would ski though , so I imagine a 4-5 day trip where I get some turns in 2 of the days then just hang with the family.
How was it this year? Where did you stay?
It was fantastic. We were there over MLK weekend and drove up Thursday in a storm. They got about 10” by Friday morning so the conditions were great all weekend. It was busy on Saturday but we did a half day on the mountain then went dogsledding in the afternoon, which was really cool. Sunday was a little less crowded and we went rope drop to last chair, and left Monday morning. Next year we’re doing Sun-Sat over February school vacation.
My wife doesn’t ski and the main thing we love about Tremblant is that there’s plenty to do besides just skiing/riding. Between the village, casino, ice skating, tubing, dogsledding, etc. we’ve decided that a few days isn’t enough time. Honestly if it was a couple hours closer to home we’d probably be looking for a condo there.
We’ve stayed at the Westin in the village both times we’ve been, and will do so again next year. It’s close to all the action and has an outdoor heated pool which my daughter loves. Good bar and restaurant, great gym, and excellent service in our experience. Our friends stayed at the Residence Inn which they also enjoyed, but they came over to our hotel to use the pool/gym/sauna.
Moment Skis with Look Pivots…
Tell me you are going to ski some scary stuff and jump off of a cliff or 2, without telling me you are going to Ski some scary stuff and maybe jump off of a cliff or 2.
Love that setup.
The Countach series i feel are a bit more big mountain than the Commander series. Which as we know probably fits more of Moments custom base vs a High speed “Groomerish” ski that I think the Commander is.
Thanks for the info! May consider them for next season.
Just back from a great day ripping it up with my younger brother. Didn’t get the big dump of snow we were promised last night (only got 6-8 cm) so rode the Ccmmader 108s which were perfect. The big thaw last weekend left it too hard/icy for anything very steep or extreme unfortunately!
Spent this past weekend at Palisades Tahoe. I’m not the type to prefer Spring skiing in 60 degree weather, but it actually wasn’t that bad. Here’s a pic of the lake from the top of the Summit lift on the Alpine Meadows side, where we spent most of our time due to better snow and thinner crowds.
Current quiver:
Renoun Endurance 98s, 184cm, Marker Griffon 13s, 2.5 / 0.5 edge angles
Hagan Ultra 82, 176cm, Hagan race binding
What I need, based on the fact that my child wrecked me in a 9 gate GS course by a full 20 meters, is a tweener SL/GS ski. (That and in process of earning USSS L100 and I need a drill ski…)
Blister Reviews just did reviews on the New Atomic Redsters and other Frontside race adjacent skis… You may want to Start there.
There’s some masters “cheater / tweeter” skis that can run both SL and GS. Rossignol’s got a good one, too. I also used Fischer for a long time, though they definitely got me into some bad habits that I’m still trying to unlearn (Fischer’s recommended mount is further back in the ski than other brands, so my natural tendency is to ride the shit out of the tail of a ski).
And though I adored my Volkl Mantra’s…JESUS their skis are heavy.
Great pics, thanks!
