Skewing saddle on P3C - Tom or Gerard?

Gerard mentioned in an earlier thread that there was a way to skew the saddle right to one side on a P3C. Can anyone tell me how?

Thanks!

I thought he mentioned the opposite… Tom D. said in his review on bikesportmichigan.com that it CANNOT be done.

No, Gerard said you can do it…he just didn’t say how. I really need to figure it out so I can properly hang my package to the side.

Dude! Too much information! You can just rock me to sleep tonight with that image running through my head… lol

.

Reread the threads on the bike when it first came out. He talked about how they worked with Selle Italia to make the saddle especially for that bike. They chose Selle Italia because of their reputation for quality, which was important because the saddle HAD to be perfectly straight.

I’ve looked over a lot of gerard’s posts trying to find something that says otherwise, and zilch.

TomD says the same. I’ve NEVER heard any different…

Just email info@cervelo.com. Gerard is at probably at Eurobike…

Post #24 of Tom D’s “The P3C Thing is Up” thread.

Although I’m not sure how “most saddles” still allow that…

right. that was my initial question…i’m not sure either and that’s why i posted the question. thank for the reference to the other thread.

I stand corrected… Of course, that first page was the one I didn’t read while hunting for an answer.

My only thought, and this is from looking at pics in TomD’s review, is that maybe you can kind of force an adjustment (tilt it to one side and forcefully hold it that way) while you tighten it. But if you own one, you’d know much better than I if that would work…

I had an email conversation about this with Gerard when the p3c first surfaced in pictures.

To paraphrase his answer, he said that they really didn’t take skewing the saddle into consideration when designing this frame, because they had done enough checking to come to the conclusion that very few people do this, less than when they designed the p2 style seatpost.

You cannot mount the saddle off-center on the new bike, and his suggestion was that a rider who really needed offset on the saddle (like me) could bend the rails on the saddle - or just check through the saddle assortment at your LBS and find one that is off-center out of the box (which is not exactly an uncommon occurrence.)

fredly,

here is what I did since i didn’t get any real answers (that were helpful that is - i think the one guy was worried about my package :-)) - I cut tiny peices of duck tape and put them on the inside front of the way I wanted to skew, and to the inside rear of the opposite side. Whoala! I now have a bit of skew…we’ll see how the duck tape holds up!

Thanks,
