I am using the goal of completing a short distance triathlon to help motivate me to getting back in shape. I need a better bike than the Walmart cruiser I have. I live in a rural area and the LBS’s idea of fitting for a bike consists of simply sitting on a few to see which is comfortable. After a little reading on this site and several better bike stores web pages, it seems that there should be more to it. Especially if I am going to spend more than $1000 of my money( I know that is not much for most of you, but I don’t want to over-invest until I find out how well I like this).
So here is my question; Should I put off buying the bike until I can find time to travel to a better store?
