Since the election the Dow Jones is down almost 3,000 points! The DJIA was around 9,600+ when we all closed the curtain back in November and today the market closed at 6,763. That is a 1,000 point hit for “Hope”, 1,000 more for “Change” and the last 1,000 for 'Believe". At what point do all you Obama apologists start to admit that the direction that he is pointing us towards is off a freaking cliff?
Let’s see if I can beat them to it. Its all Bush’s fault.
Yeah, like the market is backward looking and not forward looking. The reason the market continues to be in the shitter is because the market doesn’t like the direction things are going. And who is setting that direction? I’m pretty sure its not Bush.
GWB allowed a mass murderer to kill 2,752 people in one day.
See I can do it also.
Oh come on man. GWB was perfect and nothing ever bad happened during his watch. The economy doesn’t work on long term cycles. It changes day to day depending on who is the president. The Dow was at one trillion and we all had a billion dollars the day before Obama took office. The day after we are all dead.
LOL…classic!
Why stop there? Since you’re making up arbitrary dates that Obama became responsible, I suggest we go all the way back to Feb. 10, 2007, when he announced his candidacy. We all know the market is “forward looking”, and the market was around 12,600 when Obama announced he was running for president. Therefore, he’s responsible for a 5,700 point drop.
but Bush, but Bush, but Bush…news flash… bush is out of office and time will tell might be among the 5 worse presidents of all time. whereas your chosen boy, has done no better, squandered billions (soon to be trillions), hit the accelerator to drive the economy into a ditch, surrounded himself with criminals and is working to fundamantally socialize much of the US.
So one of you apologists, please explain to me what Obama Claus has done to make matters better. Because the market which tends to be both forward looking and pretty efficient is screaming loudly that the plan forward is assinine.

And if all i cared about was how much money i have i would almost give a crap.
So Obama hasn’t fixed a problem that has been decades in the making in two months so he sucks? He doesn’t have the power to fix this problem so since he doesn’t he is terrible? Is there any room for logic and clear thinking in your world or are you only about hating the other guy?

It sounds like you are a Republican so I would like to ask you if you agree with Obama’s decision to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan? It was done under the direction of the Generals on the ground whom I assume you support so would you say he made a good decision?
grant, its like this… money can not buy happiness, but those without money tend not to be very happy.
actually Casey, I am a Libertarian. And probably would never have gotten into Afghanistan in the first place.
“I am a Libertarian”
Are you sure?
**actually Casey, I am a Libertarian. And probably would never have gotten into Afghanistan in the first place. **
I certainly lean that way myself but since we are there he had a choice to make and decided to increase the troops. I realize this is off topic from the economic discussion but it does point towards showing if there is anything you would support from Obama.
Personally, I agree with the Canadian Prime Minister who recently said fighting the Taliban is a waste of time. I would like to see us out of both Iran and Afghanistan but I would also hate to see the Taliban take over again, it’s just not good for anyone. In that sense then, I would have to agree that Obama is doing the right thing.
You know, Obama is taking a big gamble with America’s future. Yes he’s an opportunist (what pol isn’t), and is trying to remake America in ways which I somewhat disagree. That said, the gamble is getting huge, and the cost for failure is too. I’m thinking that at some point most will come to “his” side simply because failure is too costly. He’s our “agent” in a poker game, and on the first hand goes “all in”…
Dave to use your scenario. he has gone all in with marginal cards, in early position, when callers are likely and when his bankroll is borrowed. not a good strategy at all.

I meant agent in the legal sense; he’s my agent, he’s your agent, and the money is ours.
You sort of got the right date, but blamed the wrong guy.
It would be when the Democrats took over Congress, and started us on the path to fiscal responsibility, accountability, and gave us those powerfull first 100 hours.
All in on the first move. That’s just great. Obama’s inexperience in crisis leadership is really showing. He’s all over the place trying to accomplish 100 things in 100 days without really accomplishing anything positive. Today its laying the groundwork for a new healthcare system. Great.
Since he has been elected he has hardly struck a positive tone about the economy. It’s always crisis and catastrophe if we don’t act now by pushing through huge spending packages when we can ill afford them and leave many scratching their heads on how we are going to pay for all this borrowed money. Oh, I know he gave a nice speech when he addressed congress but in the day to day operation of his administration one doesn’t get the sense of a calm steady hand on the tiller. The market and the country need that right now. The market has no confidence in him.

But he would be roundly criticized if he only focussed on one thing so he can’t really win.
I have to laugh at all you people who say he hasn’t accomplished anything. Do you really think a President can turn around an economy that has been leaking for years? Give the guy a break.
