Saw you out at Iona today, good to see you back on the bike!. It wasn’t the best day for a ride, but we made the best of it, and it looked like you did as well!.
I thought that was you at the back of a smallish pack, good to see you are making good use of your roadie racing experience and drafting as much as possible! ![]()
It sure was effing miserable out there today. We signed up for a bike tour and Grand Fondo as a form of sadistic motivation to get back on the bike, so now I have to train! Linda left me after Iona as she is racing Atomic tomorrow, I did the grand tour de Richmond pretty much solo, planned for an nice easy ride turned into “how fast can I ride to get home as soon as possible” kind of ride, so actually got in a very good workout. I was actually hoping you guys would pick up the pace and pick me up so I could catch a draft!
You doing any crits or rr, or now just tris, IMC for you?
Yes I did learn to sit in on the back until the last 250m at Iona, then lay the sprint on them!!.
I haven’t bike raced since getting my a** kicked at Harris-Roubaix, I raced Oliver 1/2 last w/e but dropped out after the bike, didn’t feel like running 21 kms in the 38c heat!. The next race is the Newfoundland 70.3 1/2 Iron at the end of July. no IMC this year. I am contemplating some Tues and/or Thurs night crits, just wondering if I could “stay on” with the 5’s on Tues and the C’s on Thursdays?.
How about you, are you going to race at all this year?.
Best bet to stay on are the Thurs crits in Richmond, no hill whatsoever which makes it a lot easier to sit in, then unleash the sprint! Also there is an 8km TT at UBC on alternating Wed evenings, check the Chicks website for details.
Well I am racing/participating in a Grand Fondo in Northern Italy in a month or so, then we will see about some crits and then a stage race in Oregon. Other than that just waiting for the ok to play squash again.
AndyP is also going to Newfie so that makes at least two going from Van.

Come out to the Thursday night crits. If you get blown off the back you can ride with me. ![]()
I believe that is now know as the Chicks’ Curry Run! Did you watchh the ITU race? Did it stay dry?
Well the group split into two right off the start, I ended up in the 2nd group but managed to hang on for the 17 laps!. We averaged 38.2 and I think my hr was at 95-99% of max for the whole 36 mins!.
