Simano/Sram chain tools same?

This may be a dumb question but… Can i use a Shimano tool to shorten my new SRAM chain?

I bet you probably can, but the SRAM manual would have you use thier own “assembly tool.” Whether or not it’s different from the Shimano version…I don’t know. Good luck

I’ve shortenend lots of SRAM chains with my standard Park tool and never had a problem.

sram has a chain with an ez link. I don’t remember what they call it. no tools needed. I’m running it on my road, my wife’s road and my TT bike. No problems working w/ ultegra and DA drivetrains.

The quick link is just for removing the chain. You still need a chain tool to resize the chain.
