I think he used a p3c with zipp 606s or 808s. I could be wrong, but im pretty sure.
I think everyone that raced the course well had a similar setup. Tri bike with deep dish wheels. Not many guys had discs there.
I rode my P3SL with zipp 909’s in 2005. I’d likely pick the same over my road bike but I don’t mind climbing on my tri-bike. The course is an o.k. course for road bikes as its all ups/downs. I spent very little time at 18-22 mph. If you want - I can post percent of time at different speeds from my ergomo file but I can tell you that I spent a ton of time at 12-16 mph…A lot will depend on which bike you are more comfy on, which you ride more, how you climb…but I think a tri bike would be faster.

thanks everyone for the info.
I wish I was a better descender.
I’m not signed up yet, but considering Silverman this year. It’s great to be able to sign up within a month or two of the race, not a year in advance!
Tyler rode his p3c with 808’s. Was incrediably windy last year, I rode tri bike with 808’s as well. Go with the tri, Great race, you’ll love it.

I don’t recall any technical descents (or even close) - mostly straight roads and nothing very steep.

You definately need your tri bike. There is only one section on the bike path coming home, where you would prefer a road bike, and that is just a few miles…Tyler, along with 4 of the other top relays, used P3 carbons, fully dialed in for fast tt’ing… I would skip the disc, and go deep dish or 3 spokes…
I still have Silverman 06 pics on my Web site, complete with tons of bike shots so you can see the steeds for yourself. Links are below. The only relay guy not on a TT bike was the Columbian, Hernan (?).

Another vote for the Tri bike. And its not even close in my opinion.
