Where is the best place (i.e. nice but cheap) to stay for Silverman? Thanks
I would avoid staying on the strip, you’ll have about a 45 min drive to the swim start. That being said, the host hotel (Sunset Station) has reasonable rates for people competing, plus there a couple of other hotels located close by, Hampton Inn and Hilton Garden off the top of my head, where you could easily catch the shuttle from Sunset Station to the swim start on race morning. Look for hotels in Henderson, opposed to LV, as you’ll be closer to race festivities.
Good luck, and enjoy the race. I did it last year and it is top notch.
I stayed at the Luxor and would second not staying on the strip. The traffic is insane/inane. I heard very good things coming from the people who stayed at the host hotel. And they had good rates last year as well.
I spent weeks racking my brain about where to stay last year as I was coming from Canada. I stayed at the host hotel Sunset Station. Pretty reasonable. It was great and a lot of others racing will be staying there. It’s close enough to head to the race, view the course, hit the outlet stores, and you can always pop downtown when you want to see the bright lights. I had rented a car. They have a shuttle leaving race morning to the beginning of the race. As well the finish is closer to the hotel (not walking distance mind you). Also Sunset had a great variety of restaurants to choose from. The next time I do the race I will be staying there again for sure. Good luck with the race, it is very well put together and the best swag of any of the IM’s I’ve done. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Check out MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas, which is a few minutes away from Mead: www.montelagovillage.com
.
I work with this super hot lifeguard chick who is friends with the race director, im going that route. Or ill camp.
where are you camping?
The Hacienda is probably the closest hotel, but its pretty old and not the nicest place to stay from what i have heard…you can see the swim venue from the hotel, probably about 1-2 miles from starting line. Sunset Station or any of the hotels at Lake Las Vegas are going to be a better bets…closer to other things such as dining, convenience stores, grocery stores, and much newer/nicer hotels. The drive from my house, which is on the NW side of town, is about 45-1 hour…it sucks on race morning, but i’m up early anyways.
The best places to stay are as follows:
-
Sunset Station - The bus goes from there to the starting line. They’re the host hotel, I believe. Bus goes from the finish line back to the hotel.
-
Green Valley Ranch - Actually on the course. Approximately 1/4 mile from finish line. You’ll need to drive to Sunset Station to get the bus to get to the race.
-
There are a lot of non-gaming hotels in the Green Valley areas of Las Vegas. On the travel websites, look up zip code 89014 or 89074.
10,000,000. The Hacienda - Not a bad hotel by any means, but while it’s close to the start, how do you get back to it after the race?
Any other questions - feel free to PM me, and I can help you.
