Anyone have information about whether this event will be back in 2012?
I asked…Frank may chime in, but AFAIK, they’re looking at all possible options for 2012 (whatever that means).
That has been asked for several months on the Silverman website with no response … the obvious reason for that would be that its not going to return in 2012. For many of us that would like to do it, we are doing IMAZ this year and if Frank doesn’t announce before IMAZ, many of his potential competitors will have already signed up for IMAZ 2012 since it fills quickly. Too bad … it was a challenging race and a fun place to visit.

Sadly, I think you are right. It ws a great race and it looks like WTC countered, first tried a race at the same time, then were able to get Mr. Lowery himself. I asked also aand received no response. I also asked if they had any left over merchandise (like to get a replacement hat ect…) no answer there either…Hope am wrong
Most of the competitors at Silverman were for the 1/2 IM event anyway and that has clearly been replaced by the WTC 70.3 event. The remaining 4-500 full IM competitors was not very robust by WTC standards anyway and it was a hard race.
I suspect the ITU long course race (which I suspect most could care less about) is a convenient change to phase out Silverman altogether … only the official announcement remains. That is all just conjecture on my part …Frank could tell us all how wrong that is today if he really plans on a 2012 Silverman full IM event. I’d like to hear from him as well on this thread … but I don’t think it will happen.

Meg hinted on her facebook “…well inquiring minds, set your sights on 2013…” Take it anyway you want to. For me, it keeps the hope alive that Silverman will be back!
Gosh, I hope it returns. I’ve never been mentally and physically challenged like I was at Silverman in 2007 and 2010, and I want another shot at it. It’s an extraordinary event and venue. There’s just nothing else like Silverman. Nothing.

2013 is good. I can wait.
