There is a member posting the Xentis base bar for STI levers in the classifieds. I don’t know what has come over me, but the idea of a Hammerhead roadie sounds sweet to me for some reason. I mean I hardly ever ride the drops, and mating those with some SRAM red shifters on my Archon sounds, well, sick, but good in a weird way.
If we weren’t in a depression I might just give it a go.
I do not think it would be a silly idea but the only concern that I would see is the mounting area for the aero bar extensions. While you only use the hoods (I am the same for the most part) I do use the top of the bars which you might not be able to do very well with these bars. I did try to look and see how they would look without the extensions but I could not get a great picture but I will keep looking.
They don’t look bad without extensions. The wing portion just kind of plateaus into a flat section with mounting holes for the aerobars to bolt on.
If you like to ride the tops these wont be very comfy tho. The rear of the wing tapers off to a VERY thin profile and the bars actually slope down a bit towards the shifters.
Other than a great look (personal taste) I do not see a benefit of going this route other than having something different. Looking at their website, the lightest version of this basebar is 185g which you could easily get if you bought any stock carbon drop bar and cut off the bottom of the bars that are not used.
