Silca hiro chuck with super 9

I just got my new silca locking pump head adapter which is awesome. It is a really nice piece of equipment. I have a super 9 CC disc that I run in the rear with latex tubes. Anyone have a recommendation as to what length stem I should be running to fit that chuck in the opening. I believe that I have a 51mm vittoria latex tube in the wheel right now and there is not enough clearance to get the chuck in.

The obvious response is a shorter stem on the tube but I am having trouble finding short stemmed latex tubes. Anyone else run into this? Any suggestions? What combo are people using?

Thanks

Looks like you can get Michelin latex tubes with 40mm valves. Not sure how they compare to the Vittorias.
I too am planning to use a Super 9 disc, and had purchased Vittoria latex tubes. I was also looking to get the new silca pump head…that sucks that it won’t work with the vittoria tubes…

I had/have a nice bad batch of mich latx tubes. would work fine on a read disk if you can twist close the valve. found out the hard way on a front wheel in a TT. next 3 I tried all had the same issue just an fyi if you use extenders(these are not removable cores)

I use the OLD vredestein latex tubes with 42mm stems; you can get them on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Setoffer-Vredestein-Latex-Tube-42mm-Valve-/190976841256?pt=US_Tubes&hash=item2c771b5628

You need 45mm or shorter.

Josh and I talked about this, and we’re talking about ways to maybe slim Hiro down on the backside so you can fit a longer stem. Josh is also working on getting his own tubes for Silca, with 40ish mm stems.

Thanks Rappstar!
