argh. I never get these in training, but during almost every race I experience extremely painful ones.
Yesterday I even got one during the swim, but that could be attributed to the really cold water. That carried on to the bike and run, and the whole time I had a feeling like I had a really big burp that needed to come out but didn’t.
I got one for the first time during my last race. Hit T2, ready to tear up the run, and as soon as I got off the bike, I got a nasty side stitch. Ended up walking, jogging, stopping and trying to induce vomitting for the first 2.5 miles. I think it might have been over concentrated Cytomax or Accelerade. Totally sucked. I ended up feeling better for awhile then it came back the last mile. At least I finished…
i know this is gonna sound stupid but have you ever tried to put pressure on it? whenever i get a side stitch i just put pressure on the area that hurts the worst for a while till the pain subsides. it usually takes 30 seconds at the most. im not saying that this will get rid of it completely but it will bring the pain to a bearable (spelling?) level.
