After 2012 Olympics Sutton asked WTC to give Spirig a wildcard entry to Kona as she’d just won the Gold. I think he suggested Brownlee should be offered one as well. They declined both. Irony being that Spirig would actually go pretty well at Kona IMO.
If winning the biggest medal in our sport doesn’t get you a place. Much as I like Tim since he grew up not far from me, they’ll never give him a spot on the basis of them feeling sorry for him.
Agree with the above poster that Tim possibly wouldn’t take it anyway, prefer to earn it legitimately!
