Should I wear....?

I read the post from the lady who wanted to know if she could wear her Oakley watch and the majority seemed to reflect a “to hell with convention”. I’ll bet by carbon cranks that these folks who are encouraging her to be “different” are very conformist within the sport of triathlon. Shaved legs. disk wheels (even though they average less than 20mph on the bike) SUV, Oakley watch… Those things also reflect a uniform of sorts.

She said she finally got a “real” job. I assume that she was working and earning some sort of living before so what was that make-believe? I get a kick out of how people seem to think that being a stockbroker, salesperson, IT person ect is a blight on society but selling bikes or organizing races or being a coach reflects a higher moral value.

Congrats on the new job! Wear a dress watch and enjoy all the aspects of your life. Do not define yourself by triathlon anymore than you do by your profession. Otherwise you risk being a boring, egomanical, tri-dork…

FYI- To anyone that sells anything- The only pen you should EVER hand your client to sgin and contract is the one that bears the name of your company. If you don’t have them get them. Then you get to say “thanks and you can keep the pen”
